Job Description

Position Overview:

The Assistant HR Manager will support the end-to-end HR operations of the organization, including onboarding, payroll coordination, compliance, performance management, employee engagement, and exit processes. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with employees and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Onboarding & Induction

  • Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires.
  • Prepare and share offer letters, collect required documents, and ensure timely completion of pre-boarding formalities.
  • Conduct induction/orientation sessions to introduce company culture, policies, and processes.
  • Ensure smooth handover of assets and system access to new employees.

2. Payroll Management

  • Support monthly payroll processing by collecting and validating attendance, leaves, reimbursements, and deductions.
  • Coordinate with the finance and payroll team to ensure timely and accurate salary disbursement.
  • Maintain payroll records and address employee queries related to compensation, taxes, and payslips.

3. HR Compliance

  • Ensure HR operations comply with statutory and legal requirements (PF, ESIC, gratuity, POSH, Shops & Establishment Act, etc.).
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and ensure timely submission of statutory filings.
  • Support audits by preparing required documentation.

4. Performance Management

  • Facilitate the performance appraisal cycle, including goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and annual evaluations.
  • Coordinate with managers to ensure timely completion of PMS activities.
  • Track performance improvement plans (PIP) and provide administrative support for development initiatives.

5. Employee Engagement

  • Plan, organize, and conduct employee engagement activities, celebrations, and recognition programs.
  • Conduct pulse surveys and work with leadership to implement action plans.
  • Support grievance management by addressing concerns and escalating issues as needed.

6. Exit & Offboarding

  • Manage the entire exit formalities including resignation acceptance, documentation, and exit interviews.
  • Coordinate with IT, finance, and admin teams for smooth clearance and asset retrieval.
  • Ensure timely processing of full & final settlements and issue of relieving letters.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in HR operations or generalist roles.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, payroll handling, and statutory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HRMS tools and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in fast-paced environments.
