Role Overview

The Assistant Branch Manager will support the Branch Manager in managing day-to-day branch operations, driving business growth, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The role requires a strong understanding of fintech products, operational discipline, team coordination, and revenue-focused execution.

This position acts as a bridge between sales, operations, compliance, and technology teams to ensure smooth branch performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities1. Branch Operations Management

  • Assist in managing end-to-end branch operations including onboarding, servicing, and support of merchants, distributors, and partners.
  • Ensure smooth execution of fintech services such as UPI Collection, Payout APIs, AEPS, BBPS, DMT, Aadhaar Pay, and related platforms.
  • Monitor daily transaction volumes, settlements, chargebacks, and service uptime coordination with the tech team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal SOPs, risk controls, and escalation protocols.

2. Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Support branch-level sales targets for API onboarding, merchant acquisition, and partner activation.
  • Coordinate with Business Development Executives (BDEs) to track leads, conversions, and pipeline movement.
  • Identify local market opportunities for fintech adoption and channel expansion.
  • Assist in pricing discussions, commercial negotiations, and client retention initiatives.

3. Team Coordination & Supervision

  • Supervise branch staff including sales executives, operations executives, and support staff.
  • Conduct daily/weekly performance reviews and ensure task accountability.
  • Assist in training new hires on fintech products, compliance basics, and customer handling.
  • Act as a first-level escalation point for internal team issues and client concerns.

4. Compliance, Risk & Regulatory Support

  • Ensure all onboarded clients and partners comply with KYC, AML, and RBI/NPCI guidelines.
  • Monitor suspicious transactions, high-risk usage patterns, and repeated chargebacks.
  • Coordinate with compliance and legal teams for audits, notices, or regulatory queries.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready records at the branch level.

5. Customer & Partner Relationship Management

  • Handle key clients, enterprise partners, and high-value merchants.
  • Ensure timely resolution of disputes, chargebacks, and operational issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with banking partners, aggregators, and service providers (as applicable).
  • Ensure professional communication standards across WhatsApp, email, and CRM tools.

6. Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on:
  • Business performance
  • Revenue and margins
  • Operational issues
  • Compliance status
  • Track KPIs for branch performance and support data-driven decision-making.

Required Skills & CompetenciesFunctional Skills

  • Strong understanding of fintech products and transaction-based business models
  • Knowledge of UPI, AEPS, BBPS, payouts, settlements, and chargeback processes
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, dashboards, and reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of RBI/NPCI compliance, KYC/AML norms

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, or related field (MBA preferred but not mandatory)
  • 2–5 years of experience in fintech, banking, NBFC, payments, or financial services
  • Prior experience in branch operations, sales coordination, or team supervision is highly desirable
