The Service Engineer will play a key role in coordinating, executing, and monitoring service activities across hospital sites in India.
This position involves planning and conducting preventive maintenance (PM) as per schedule, resolving service issues in coordination with field technicians, and ensuring smooth collaboration with internal teams such as Production, Supply Chain, and Sales.
This is an ideal opportunity for a fresher or early-career engineer looking to develop a strong foundation in medical device service operations and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventive Maintenance (PM) Coordination & Execution
Maintain and update the master PM calendar for all installed devices across India.
Schedule, track, and ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance visits in coordination with technicians and customer sites.
Record all PM activities, reports, and calibration details in the service database.
Follow up with hospitals to confirm PM completion and documentation.
2. Field Service & Complaint Handling
Coordinate with regional technicians for attending breakdowns and resolving service complaints.
Track complaint resolution time (TAT) and ensure minimal downtime of devices.
Support technicians in troubleshooting and escalate unresolved issues to the Service Manager.
Maintain detailed service reports and ensure accurate data logging.
3. Technician Network Management
Build and maintain a nationwide database of service technicians and regional partners.
Track technician availability, skill level, and training status.
Assist in training and certifying technicians on product installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance SOPs.
4. Logistics & Shipment Coordination
Collaborate with the Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure the correct shipment of devices, spare parts, and PM kits to customer sites or technicians.
Track dispatch and delivery status and report any discrepancies or delays.
Maintain records of dispatched components and returned parts for traceability.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Production, Sales, and R&D teams to ensure smooth service operations.
Communicate field feedback and recurring issues to R&D for design improvements.
Support Sales teams in installation planning and post-installation technical checks.
6. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain updated service logs, complaint records, and PM completion reports.
Prepare weekly service summaries and status updates for the Service Manager.
Track open actions, pending service calls, and equipment history in a structured manner.
Qualifications
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
Experience:
0–3 years of experience in field service, medical device maintenance, or customer support (freshers welcome).
Internship or project exposure in hospital equipment, life sciences instruments, or cooling systems is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Strong coordination and organizational skills.
Basic understanding of electromechanical systems and diagnostic tools.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with hospital staff.
Proficient in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and basic reporting tools.
Self-motivated, responsible, and eager to learn in a fast-paced medtech environment.
Willingness to travel extensively for PMs, installations, and service calls.
Preferred Attributes
Understanding of electrical safety standards (IEC 60601-1) or QMS (ISO 13485).
Experience with CRM or service management tools.
Interest in the medical device sector and customer-facing operations.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
