A Brief Overview

The Senior Workstation Engineer provides insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems. This individual serves as the technical lead which must have expert proficiency in associated workstation infrastructure and systems. This individual will diligently work with Colleague Solutions leadership to establish the technical direction for the development and modification of workstation infrastructure solutions within various computing environments supporting the mission of TriNet.

What You Will Do

  • The Senior Workstation Engineer provides insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities; partnering with IT business leaders, App Admin, and enterprise architects to review business drivers, and to define, understand, and communicate target strategies and roadmaps to IT leadership.
  • Work closely with technical teams in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems by leveraging partnerships with IT business analysts to understand business needs and functional specifications.
  • Build solutions that support the technical direction of infrastructure solutions within various computing environments by ensuring the delivery of technical solutions that meet business problems; guiding and driving physical architecture design for new initiatives; Perform the development and validation of system design prototypes.
  • Perform systems integration testing (SIT), component integration testing (CIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) for assigned systems by establishing test metrics; report testing issues to EUS leadership; provide post-testing results to EUS leadership for approval.
  • Consult Colleague Solutions leadership providing input to capital and expense budgets for the development, enhancement, and/or maintenance of designated workstation technologies.
  • Mentor junior team members providing technical and procedural guidance in performance of their duties; supporting team career development.
  • Consult with the Tech Ops Center and other IT teams monitoring incident trends identifying any potential reoccurring issues needing escalation; serve as a technical support escalation point for Colleague Solutions; troubleshoot complex or high impact system issues determining root cause; recommending and prioritizing action plans to address infrastructure system performance issues in consideration of organizational impact.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
  • Analyze performance and reliability metrics.
  • Work closely with Security, Network, and IT teams for endpoint strategy.
  • Participate in audits and risk assessments.
  • Maintain technical documentation and SOPs.
  • Design and manage workstation infrastructure for enterprise environments.
  • Implement and maintain endpoint security standards and compliance.
  • Develop automation scripts for deployment, patching, and configuration.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance workstation performance.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 8+ years

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, customer service and analytical skills
  • Expert PC hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Expert Apple Mac and Windows OS management
  • Advanced Citrix administration and support skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 and other standard software skills
  • Expert Active Directory, Azure, InTune and JAMF device management skills
  • Advanced Networking technologies skills understanding DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, and troubleshooting skills
  • Expert programming or scripting skills
  • Familiarity with endpoint security tools (EDR, antivirus, encryption).

Licenses and Certifications

  • Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) JAMF Pro expert certifications preferred
  • MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Microsoft certifications preferred
  • VMware Certified Professional Citrix certifications preferred
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Security+; or similar
