Senior SAP P2P Functional Consultant (Retail)


Role Summary

Senior SAP P2P Functional Consultant


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end

    P2P functional design

    : requisitioning, sourcing, PO, goods receipt, invoice processing, and payment.
  • Configure and optimize

    SAP S/4HANA

    P2P modules (MM, Procurement, and AP) for retail-specific scenarios (stores, DCs, suppliers).
  • Own

    integration design & troubleshooting

    between SAP and third-party systems:
  • Buyer Portal, Store Portal,

    Ariba

    (Sourcing/Buying),

    SAP CAR

    ,

    WMS

    ,

    TMS

    ,

    BBIC

    ,

    SPS Commerce

    (EDI).
  • Define and manage

    interface patterns

    (IDocs, APIs/OData, EDI, Flat files, CPI/PI/PO) including error handling, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Partner with business on

    requirement gathering

    , fit-gap analysis, process mapping, and functional specifications.
  • Lead

    testing cycles

    (unit, SIT, UAT),

    cutover planning

    , and

    hypercare

    for deployments.
  • Create detailed

    configuration documents

    , process flows, test scripts, and knowledge articles.
  • Work closely with

    Basis/ABAP/Integration

    teams to resolve defects, map data, and ensure compliance with security and controls.
  • Drive

    continuous improvement

    : KPI tracking, root cause analysis, and process automation within P2P.
  • Provide

    production support

    with strong incident/problem management and SLA adherence.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • 7–12 years

    of SAP experience with

    strong hands-on P2P

    (MM/Procurement/AP) in

    S/4HANA

    .
  • Proven

    retail domain

    experience (store operations, DC logistics, vendor collaboration, promotions, markdowns, cross-docking preferred).
  • Strong experience in

    SAP-to-3rd party interfacing

    for solution design & troubleshooting across:
  • Buyer/Store Portals,

    Ariba

    ,

    SAP CAR

    ,

    WMS

    ,

    TMS

    ,

    BBIC

    ,

    SPS Commerce

    .
  • Expertise in

    integration technologies

    : IDoc, EDI (850/855/856/810), API/OData, XML/JSON, SAP

    CPI/PI/PO

    ; familiarity with monitoring tools (AIF, Integration Cockpits).
  • Hands-on

    configuration

    : purchasing groups, release strategies, PR/PO, GR, LIV, pricing, account determination, vendor master, source list, info records.
  • Solid understanding of

    invoice processing

    and

    3-way match

    ; tax, freight, surcharges; returns/RTV; STO; subcontracting.
  • Strong

    problem-solving and troubleshooting

    in complex, distributed landscapes.
  • Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.


Good-to-Have Skills

  • Ariba

    (Buying/Sourcing/Contracts) – configuration & integration.
  • VIM (Vendor Invoice Management)

    – process design, workflows, exception handling.
  • SAP RISE

    – cloud migration awareness, best practices, and operational guardrails.
  • Knowledge of

    SPS Commerce

    EDI mappings and retailer trading partner requirements.
  • Exposure to

    SAP CAR

    for retail analytics and inventory visibility.
  • Understanding of

    WMS/TMS

    data models and event-driven integrations.
  • Familiarity with

    Fiori

    apps in P2P and user adoption strategies.

  • P2P cycle time reduction and first-time-right PO/Invoice rates
  • Interface success rate and mean time to resolve (MTTR) for integration issues
  • Reduction in invoice exceptions and blocked payments
  • UAT defect leakage and production incident volume
  • On-time delivery of design docs, test scripts, and cutover plans
