Role Summary
Title: Senior Product Owner
Reports to: Product Manager (Co-founder)
Purpose: Maximise the value delivery from our engineering teams by managing the product backlog, defining clear and actionable requirements, and ensuring smooth sprint execution.
Overall Team : 40 people
Current Product Team Structure:
- 1 Product Manager (Co-founder)
- 2 Designers
- 1 Product Owner
- Multiple cross-functional engineering pods
🧰 Key Responsibilities
i.) Delivery Accountability
Sprint Execution Support
- Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Own the sprint goal and ensure scope clarity with the team.
- Actively remove blockers and facilitate decisions.
- Own the quality and timeliness of sprint outcomes.
- Monitor progress against roadmap commitments and flag risks early.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, QA, design, sales, customer success and the Product Manager.
- Keep stakeholders informed on progress, changes, and releases.
Voice of the Customer
- Ensure customer needs are embedded in sprint delivery.
- Drive internal feedback loops from Support, Sales, and Customer Success.
Sprint Backlog Management
- Prioritise and maintain the sprint backlogs.
- Break down large epics into actionable user stories.
- Ensure clarity of acceptance criteria and definition of done.
ii.) Technical Planning
- Work with designers and engineers to scope out the technical requirements to deliver proposed product solutions
- Offer insight into how available technologies can be leveraged to achieve product outcomes e.g. SSO, Identity & Access Management
- Coordinate technical feasibility spikes with engineering teams to investigate technical unknowns of adopting new technologies or complex implementations
- Conduct independent technical research into potential integrations with other products in the ecosystem, including SIS, LMS, Timetabling, etc
- Assist design and development teams on planning data models and architectural solutions to improve product quality and customer outcomes
iii.) Driving Operational Excellence within Product Team
- Drive the adoption of AI tools across areas of responsibility
- Design and implement systems and processes to increase the productivity and effectiveness of the product team as a whole
- Document internal processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness of key workflows
- Design and implement reports and dashboards to measure performance over areas of responsibility including sprint velocity, bug resolution performance, and adherence to delivery goals
- Ensure analytics tracking is set up appropriately to track product usage and success measures
iv.) Curating and Sharing Product Knowledge
- Document technical and user level specs to describe product functionality and configuration steps including help articles, integration documentation, onboarding requirements for key products and features
- Post regular product updates to customers and team members relating to any changes to the product, including new features, enhancements, bug fixes, etc
- Facilitate product training for GTM teams to keep up to date with product capabilities including training videos, courses, remote training sessions
v.) Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all stories in development have clear testing criteria
- Ensure that new functionality is well tested before being released to production
- Oversee the bug board and strive to maintain customer SLA and OLA targets
- Troubleshoot and diagnose bugs from a database and code level
- Ensure that customers and the team are informed of any updates to active bugs
- Work with customers directly to troubleshoot / diagnose complex bugs

💼 Candidate Profile
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years in a Product Owner or equivalent role
- Demonstrated hands on experience using AI in your work day (beyond basic AI chat)
- Strong understanding of Agile / Scrum practices
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to break down complexity into simple, clear steps
- Understand complex systems to drive problem solving across all aspects of product development and support
- Confident working with engineering, design, and GTM teams day-to-day
- Confidence to work directly with customers when needed
Location & Working Hours
- India works well with timezone but needs to be willing to start early to align teams in other timezones
Nice-to-Haves:
- Software Engineering background / Education
- Experience in B2B SaaS or EdTech
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Notion, Linear, etc.
- Background in business analysis, QA, or delivery
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment
