Job Summary:

STEMpedia, a dynamic startup specializing in electronics and educational resources, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accounting Associate. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, handling billing and payments related to domestic transactions, imports, and exports, and providing in-depth financial analysis to support the growth and performance of the company.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Financial Transactions Management: 

  Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by analyzing account data. Document financial transactions, including invoicing, credit management, accounts clearing, and collections.

• Financial Reporting:

  Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Summarize financial status to provide insights for decision-making.

• Financial Security & Compliance:

  Ensure regular database backups and adherence to internal controls for financial data protection.

• Taxation & Compliance:

  Manage and document monthly tax filings (e.g., GST) in line with regulations. Ensure timely completion of tax obligations.

• Payment Processing:

  Verify payment documentation and request disbursements. Ensure proper approvals and accuracy before processing payments.

• Accounting Support:

  Research and interpret accounting policies and regulations to address procedure inquiries.

• Legal Compliance:

  Stay updated with national, state, and local financial legal requirements. Advise management on actions needed to comply with financial regulations.

• Financial Analysis & Recommendations:

  Collect, analyze, and summarize financial data to prepare special reports. Recommend financial actions based on analysis of accounting options.

• Account Reconciliation:

  Reconcile discrepancies in financial records by identifying and resolving issues.

• Confidentiality & Security:

  Maintain confidentiality of financial data and protect the company’s financial information.

• Team Contribution:

  Collaborate with the team to meet company objectives and contribute to achieving key results.

Skills required:

• Has in-depth knowledge of all accounting procedures, GAAP, financial terminology and other related concepts.
• Has experience of using ZOHO Books or similar accounting software.
• In-depth knowledge of taxation norms related to GST, imports, exports, etc.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with inventory management and supply chain is plus.
• Accounting experience with start-ups or giants preferred.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
• (Master's degree or professional qualifications such as inter CA or CA preferred).
• Experience needed - minimum 3 years
