Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Lead – CPAG is responsible for leading business-specific project assurance initiatives by translating group-level policies into actionable plans and ensuring adherence to performance, budget, and compliance standards. The role bridges strategic intent with operational execution, overseeing monthly reporting, supporting BU budgeting, validating NFAs, and implementing group initiatives such as digital tools and partner onboarding. It plays a pivotal role in identifying risks, facilitating cross-BU learning, and ensuring the business unit maintains execution readiness across its CapEx portfolio while aligning with CPAG’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Project Assurance Leadership: Take complete accountability for tracking and ensuring the success of CapEx projects within assigned businesses, covering performance metrics, risk analysis, and early warning systems. Engage with business leadership regularly to highlight gaps, cost deviations, or timeline slippages, and co-create targeted solutions with project teams. Facilitation of Project Council and Best Practice Sharing: Lead the planning and execution of quarterly Project Council sessions focused on cross-BU learning, theme-based improvement, and best practice dissemination. Ensure insights from high-performing projects are captured, documented, and actively shared across businesses to accelerate maturity in execution practices. EPC Partner Development and Collaboration: Identify potential EPC partners or mid-size contractors for strategic projects, ensuring due diligence, capability assessment, and early engagement with BU leadership. Drive the end-to-end process of onboarding, alignment, and feedback loops with selected partners to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery. Regular Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of NFA status, project closure reports, and approvals to support transparent decision-making and governance. MIS Reporting and Analytics Oversight: Lead the monthly generation of performance dashboards, analytics packs, and project closure reports that are circulated to the highest levels, including the Chairman. Translate large volumes of project-level data into actionable insights, highlighting critical deviations and forecasting cost, schedule, and execution trends with clarity and precision. Business-Level Budget Planning and Validation: Drive the annual budgeting cycle for the BU by leveraging past project learnings for aligning on assumptions, risk parameters, and realistic targets, ensuring that phasing and resource planning are achievable. Develop and deliver structured annual reports that provide clear visibility into inventory levels, utilization efficiency, and gaps to enable proactive planning. NFA Assurance and Policy Compliance: Validate all NFA submissions in a timely manner (within 48 hours) for completeness, policy alignment, and commercial justification before presenting to the Chairman’s office. Track and monitor Capex of NFAs, ensuring financial discipline and alignment with approved budgets. Identify deviations from SOP/DOA in vendor selection, costing, or bid evaluation, and ensure necessary approvals or corrections are in place before progressing. Execution of Strategic Group Initiatives: Operationalize cross-business initiatives like EDMA system rollout, contracting model changes, or category procurement strategies in coordination with other group entities. Ensure continuous monitoring of project execution through regular site visits, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess performance, and evaluate progress against defined milestones. Ensure continuous monitoring and alignment of vendor performance metrics across all strategic initiatives per year. Act as the active execution arm for digital, engineering, or procurement-led interventions by ensuring buy-in, adoption, and alignment across BU functions.

Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) MBA or PGDM in Operations, Infrastructure, or Finance (preferred but not mandatory) Work Experience: 12+ years of experience in project planning, monitoring, or assurance Hands-on experience with capital project lifecycles, budgeting processes, and MIS/reporting Prior exposure to cross-BU coordination, policy implementation, and digital tools for project management
