Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Basepair, you'll orchestrate the execution of mission-critical initiatives that directly impact scientific breakthroughs in genomics. We are looking for a data-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at bridging customer needs with internal execution. You’ll own cross-functional projects from discovery through delivery—driving planning, estimation, communication, and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align priorities with strategic goals and ensure smooth execution at every step.

• Translate high-level customer needs into actionable product requirements and documentation.
  

• Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing short-term priorities with long-term goals.
  

• Develop and own project plans including scope, estimates, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  

• Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives (if Agile).
  

• Define, monitor, and report key metrics that reflect project health, delivery velocity, and team performance.
  

• Use data and insights to continuously improve delivery processes and team outcomes.
  

• Generate reliable estimates from evolving or incomplete requirements.
  

• Serve as the primary communication bridge between customers and internal teams—ensuring clarity, alignment, and shared expectations.
  

• Align project scope and timelines with company goals and product roadmap.
  

• Actively manage and negotiate trade-offs, scope, and deadlines with both customers and internal stakeholders.
  

• Unblock and support team members to maintain execution momentum.
  

• Contribute strategic insights and ideas to help customers solve problems and shape product direction.
  

• Uphold a high bar for quality and consistency across all deliverables.
  

• Document decisions, plans, and deliverables for internal transparency and knowledge sharing.
  

• Work within Agile methodologies using tools like Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
  

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in project management, preferably in a SaaS or software-focused environment. Experience managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  

• Customer-Centric Communication: A natural communicator who can align technical and non-technical teams while managing external communications with clarity and professionalism.
  

• Negotiation & Influence: Ability to manage competing priorities and negotiate scope, timelines, and resources effectively.
  

• Data & Metrics: Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to planning and process improvement.
  

• Tools & Process: Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
