Job Description

Who We Are

With more than 13,000 stores in the U.S. and 84,500 stores globally, 7-Eleven has been an iconic brand for nearly a century. In addition to 7-Eleven stores, we operate and franchise Speedway, Stripes, Laredo Taco Company and Raise the Roost locations.

Since inventing the convenience industry in 1927, we've built a rich 96-year history filled with beloved products like Slurpee, Big Gulp and Big Bite, and fan-favorite holidays like Slurpee Day and Bring Your Own Cup Day. Now, 7-Eleven is working to modernize the brand and redefine convenience—and we need your help.

About This Opportunity

7-Eleven is seeking a Product Manager to drive the strategic direction of our design system product in collaboration with our Design Systems team. In this role, you'll work alongside a talented team of designers and engineers who build and maintain the foundational design system that powers 7-Eleven's digital experiences across mobile apps, web platforms, and emerging touchpoints.

You'll operate as a traditional product manager, but your "product" is the design system that serves internal teams, and your "customers" are the product teams, designers, and engineers who rely on this system. You'll own product strategy, drive roadmaps, enable stakeholder alignment, and ensure the team delivers maximum value to the organization .

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning (40%)

  • User & Business Insight: Deeply understand 7-Eleven’s customers, store teams, and franchisees to inform design system priorities and UX consistency.
  • Roadmap & Prioritization:
  • Translate business goals and user needs into a strategic roadmap for the design system product.
  • Build a robust roadmap starting with mobile components for our consumer-facing apps, then expand to tablet and web experiences tailored for enterprise customers.
  • Manage and groom the backlog for components, themes, and tooling.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor design trends, token/theming advances, and competitor ecosystems to keep our system best-in-class.
  • Success Metrics: Define and track KPIs—such as adoption rate, developer satisfaction, accessibility compliance, and performance improvements—to continuously optimize the design system.

Delivery & Execution (40%)

  • End-to-End Delivery: Lead releases from requirements gathering, through development and QA, to launch and post-release analysis across web, iOS, Android, and tablet products.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with UX/UI designers, front-end engineers (React, SwiftUI, Kotlin), and accessibility experts to define component specs, token standards, and governance policies.
  • Agile Product Management: Create and prioritize user stories, run iteration planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives. Make daily product decisions balancing feature value, technical risk, and resource capacity.
  • Launch & Rollout: Drive launch strategy and coordinate rollouts—both internally (engineering/design teams) and externally (vendors)—ensuring smooth integration and versioning.

Team & Stakeholder Management (20%)

  • Advocacy & Evangelism: Host workshops, office hours, and community forums to promote adoption, gather feedback, and educate on best practices.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present roadmap updates, risks, and achievements to executives, product teams, and external partners. Advocate for necessary budget and resources.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Mentor junior PMs, designers, and engineers in modern agile practices, inclusive design, and design-system governance.
  • Governance & Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation, style guides, and versioning policies to ensure consistency and backward compatibility.
  • Coordinate effectively with engineering, design, and operations teams in the U.S. and India—flexing your schedule to overlap U.S. business hours.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Design, HCI, Business, or related field.
  • 4+ years in digital/agile product management, with at least 2 years owning or scaling a design system, component library, or developer platform.
  • Proven ability to translate customer needs into product requirements and UI specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, wireframing/prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD), and analytics platforms.
  • Demonstrated track record collaborating with full-stack engineering and design teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and excellent communication/storytelling abilities.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed teams across the U.S. and India, and accommodating U.S. time zones

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • Experience in retail or e-commerce, particularly in launching customer experiences
  • Tool absorbed by the other product teams
  • Components will be external facing apps- navigating how the product works internally
  • Things align with external facing products
