About the Role:

The Export Operations Lead will oversee all day-to-day export operational activities for ocean shipments out of India, ensuring seamless execution, compliance, and exceptional service levels. This person will manage the ops team, troubleshoot real-time issues, coordinate with vendors and carriers, and drive continuous process improvements.

You will play a critical role in maintaining operational stability during peak season and supporting rapid business growth across trade lanes.

Responsibilities:

Operational Execution

• Oversee end-to-end export shipment execution (ocean), including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and final delivery milestones
• Ensure on-time shipment performance in line with customer SLAs, especially for high-volume Amazon and B2B accounts
• Manage exception handling and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks proactively

Vendor & Carrier Coordination

• Work closely with contracted carriers, liners, and trucking partners for space allocation, rate adherence, and service performance
• Coordinate closely with the Head of Procurement & Network Design to align vendor execution with negotiated terms

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead and coach a team of export operations executives and coordinators
• Set daily and weekly operational priorities; review progress and resolve escalations
• Monitor team KPIs (e.g., cut-off adherence, documentation accuracy, on-time delivery %)

Process Improvement & Compliance

• Standardize and continuously improve operational SOPs
• Ensure all activities are compliant with customs and regulatory requirements
• Implement process automation and efficiency initiatives where applicable

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

• Provide regular operational updates and exception reports to leadership
• Coordinate closely with sales, pricing, and customer service teams to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded

What are we looking for?

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in export operations (ocean), preferably in a fast-paced freight forwarding, consolidator, or large 3PL environment
• Strong hands-on expertise in operational problem-solving and vendor management
• Experience working with Amazon export or other high-volume B2C export models is a strong plus
• Proven track record of leading and coaching operational teams
• Deep understanding of export documentation, customs clearance, and carrier processes
• Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Comfortable working under pressure and handling real-time operational challenges
