Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer - Oil & Gas located in Navi Mumbai. The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities:
End-to-End Management:
- Manage and execute equipment supply projects for upstream (drilling, production) and downstream (processing, transportation) oil & gas facilities.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring adherence to agreed timelines and financial targets.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams (sales, engineering, procurement, quality control, logistics) and external stakeholders (clients, vendors, subcontractors) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure all project activities comply with relevant industry standards (API, ISO, OISD), regulatory requirements, and client-specific specifications.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to internal management and clients, highlighting progress, risks, and key milestones.
- Manage project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, inspection reports, material certificates, and handover dossiers.
Vendor Approval and Client Relationship Management:
- Lead the entire process of obtaining vendor registration and pre-qualification approvals with various upstream oil & gas operators in India (e.g., ARAMCO, NPCC, QATAR PETROLEUM,EXXON, SHELL, BP, Shelf Drilling, ONGC, OIL, private operators).
- Prepare and submit comprehensive vendor registration packages, ensuring all technical and commercial requirements are met accurately and efficiently.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries and clarifications during the vendor approval process.
- Coordinate and manage technical audits, site visits, and assessments conducted by client technical teams.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key technical personnel within client organizations to facilitate smooth approvals and project execution.
- Stay updated on the latest vendor registration policies, procedures, and documentation requirements of target upstream operators.
Technical Expertise and Support:
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of a wide range of upstream and downstream oil & gas equipment, including but not limited to:
- Drilling Equipment (Wellheads, Blowout Preventers (BOPs), Drilling Tools)
- Production Equipment (Separators, Pumps, Compressors, Valves, Metering Systems)
- Processing Equipment (Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Storage Tanks)
- Transportation Equipment (Pipelines, Pipeline Components)
- Instrumentation and Control Systems
- Safety Equipment
- Review and analyze client technical specifications, drawings, and datasheets to ensure accurate equipment selection and compliance.
- Liaise with international and domestic equipment manufacturers and vendors to obtain technical clarifications, quotations, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Provide technical support to the sales and business development teams during the bidding and proposal preparation stages.
- Participate in technical discussions and meetings with clients and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure project alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 - 7 years of proven experience in project engineering and/or business development roles within the oil & gas equipment supply sector.
- Demonstrable experience in managing equipment supply projects for upstream (drilling, production) and/or downstream (processing, transportation) applications.
- Mandatory: Proven track record of successfully obtaining vendor registration and pre-qualification approvals with at least 1-2 years in major upstream oil & gas operators in India (e.g., Exxon, Total, BP, ARAMCO, NPCC, QATAR PETROLEUM, ONGC, Reliance, GSPC, IOCL, HPCL, OIL, private operators).
- Strong understanding of relevant Indian and international oil & gas industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., API, ISO, OISD, ASME).
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder management.
- Strong technical aptitude and a comprehensive understanding of various types of oil & gas equipment and their applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and familiarity with relevant engineering and project management software.
- Willingness to travel frequently to client locations, vendor facilities, and project sites across India or Overseas.
