Company : Tube Investments of India (Murugappa Group) Job Title : Manager - Production Designation : Manager Location : Avadi Function : Operations Reporting To : Business Head/ Plant Head About TII & Group: Company Website: https://tiindia.com/tube-products-of-india/ About Parent Company Tube Investments: https://tiindia.com/ We are a part of the Murugappa group that operates in 28 varied businesses and we come under the Engineering vertical of Murugappa Group (www.murugappa.com) Role Overview: The Production Manager will oversee operations in a steel tube manufacturing facility running 3 shifts and employing a workforce of 200. This role reports to the Head of CDW Production and is responsible for leading 12 supervisors and ensuring seamless shift transitions, high team performance, and adherence to operational standards. Key Responsibilities: Production performance metrics: The role demands achieving a monthly production target of 4,500 tons while ensuring machine utilization exceeds 70% and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) stays within the 70–75% range. Focus will also be on improving cycle times by 5% annually, maintaining a First Pass Yield (FPY) above 94%, and limiting unplanned machine downtime to under 5% monthly. Quality & Compliance: Quality and compliance expectations include maintaining internal rejection rates below 1%, reducing customer complaints to under 10 per quarter, and ensuring audit compliance with ISO 9001, TS 16949, or equivalent standards with pass rates above 90%. The manager will be responsible for driving continuous improvement through 5S (minimum score of 70%) and implementing at least 10 Kaizen initiatives each quarter. Cost Efficiency: Cost-efficiency is a key focus, with targets to reduce scrap/waste to 2% or less of production and achieve productivity levels of 22.8 kg/person/hour (UPPH). Strong leadership in team and shift management is essential, including delivering at least 8 hours of training per operator per quarter and maintaining absenteeism below 3% monthly. EHS: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) responsibilities include achieving zero reportable accidents, reducing mandays lost due to incidents by 50% year-over-year, ensuring at least two near-miss reports per month, maintaining PPE compliance above 98%, and guaranteeing 100% staff participation in quarterly fire and safety drills. System/ Reporting: The manager must be proficient in ERP/MIS systems, ensuring daily production reports are accurately updated within 24 hours and maintaining 100% data accuracy across all reporting metrics. Qualifications & Experience: BE (Mechanical/ Production Engineering) 8–12 years experience in CDW production. 3-5 years experience in in handling team/ Managerial Role.
