Position: Lead Software Engineer, SRE, Warehouse Management Systems
The
WMOS Production Support Lead
plays a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the
Manhattan WMOS (Warehouse Management Open Systems)
application in a high-availability production environment. The role requires deep technical expertise in
WMOS
, strong problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities to manage support teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure minimal downtime in warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead L2/L3 support for Manhattan WMOS and related warehouse applications.
- Work with Engineering and Architecture teams to design scalable, high-performing solutions for WMS and final mile .
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution for critical system issues, ensuring high availability and operational reliability.
- Build and enhance proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms (e.g., ELK, AppDynamics) for improved system observability.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to prioritize and implement critical system improvements.
- Define and implement SOPs, automated workflows, and reporting frameworks to optimize daily operations.
- Ensure seamless inventory movement across DCs, resolving transfer discrepancies, EDI issues, and ASN challenges.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and drive best practices for monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Work closely with vendors (e.g., Manhattan, Savoye) to diagnose and resolve platform-related issues efficiently.
- Strategically plan and allocate system resources across OMS, WMS, and microservices to support business growth and peak readiness.
- Plan and execute DR drills for critical applications (TIBCO, Kafka, WMOS, OMS) while ensuring compliance with IT standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- 8+ year of overall experience as technologist with bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in WMOS (Manhattan Associates) applications or similar WMS products.
- 2+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.
- 2+ years of experience in software development and/or application production support , with expertise in WMS, and Supply Chain systems.
- 2+ years of experience with third-party MHE applications, including Reddwerks Pick to Light, Tompkins, Wynright, Cubiscan, ETON, Pulse, Veristich, OPEX, Savoye, Integrated Solutions, iWarehouse, Print and Apply Panda Machines.
- 2+ years of experience in designing and supporting integrations between Manhattan Labor Management (LM), Transportation Lifecycle Management (TLM), WMi, and WMOS.
- Expertise in handling EDI-related scheduling exceptions, research, and fixes, collaborating with major 3PL carriers (Ryder, Fidelitone, Werner, AMJT etc) to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Deep knowledge of Order Fulfillment Lifecycle (Pick/Pack/Ship), Inventory Control, Receiving & Putaway, Tasking, Waving, Parcel & Furniture Labels, and Third-Party Carrier Integrations.
- Experience working with EDI forms, including Invoice (810), Purchase Orders (850), Ship Notice/Manifest (856), Shipment Delivery Status Updates (214), and Order Change/Updates (860).
- Rate Shopping & Proship Integrations: Extensive knowledge of Proship configuration, including routing updates, shipping upgrades, cutoffs, ring & run configs, regional biasing rules, ship via overrides, and supporting ship-from-store functionalities with store registration, tracking configuration, and store close-out updates.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, middleware technologies (TIBCO, Kafka), and API-driven architectures.
- Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools such as ELK, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Hands-on experience in automation, alerting, and incident management to enhance system stability.
- Proven ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve critical production issues in a high-volume, distributed system environment.
- Expertise in inventory movement, EDI transactions, DC operations, and order fulfillment workflows.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate with engineering teams, operations, business stakeholders, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail domain particularly in ecommerce Warehouse Management
- Experience working in a large-scale system migrations (e.g., Manhattan PKMS to WMOS), performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems (TIBCO,Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience in database management, optimization, and troubleshooting (SQL, NoSQL).
- Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, or other automation languages.
