Role Overview

We are seeking a

skilled and proactive L2 Network Engineer

to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will provide intermediate-level technical support for network infrastructure, resolve escalated incidents from L1 teams, and assist in the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network systems. This position requires strong hands-on expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, and monitoring tools to ensure network reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Management and Troubleshooting

Handle and resolve escalated network issues from L1 teams within defined SLAs.
Perform advanced troubleshooting on network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent fixes.

Network Maintenance and Monitoring

Monitor network health and performance using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or Nagios.
Perform routine network maintenance tasks including firmware upgrades, patching, and configuration reviews.
Ensure optimal operation, uptime, and security of network infrastructure.

Configuration and Deployment

Assist in the installation, configuration, and deployment of network devices (Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, etc.).
Configure VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP), ACLs, and VPNs as per design standards.
Support network migrations and upgrades in collaboration with L3 engineers and architects.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation for network topology, configurations, incidents, and changes.
Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and capacity utilization.

Collaboration

Work closely with L3 engineers for complex escalations and solution design.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for RMA, replacements, and extended support.

Experience

Qualifications and Skills

6–10 years of experience in network engineering, support, or administration.
Proven hands-on experience with Cisco, Aruba, or Fortinet network devices.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, OSPF, BGP, and routing/switching concepts.
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
Working knowledge of network security (firewalls, VPNs, ACLs).
Exposure to Software-Defined Networking (SDN), ACI, and SD-WAN technologies.
Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or Jira.

Certifications (Preferred)

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or equivalent certification.
CompTIA Network+ or similar credential.
ITIL Foundation Certification (preferred).

Soft Skills

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities across L1/L3 and vendor teams.
