Job Summary
The IT Lead Engineer is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including on-premises systems, cloud services, and enterprise email platforms. This role combines technical depth with leadership in systems engineering, network management, and end-user support across diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Management :
Design, Deploy, And Manage On-premises Systems, Including
Network architecture :
switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs
Network infrastructure :
structured cabling, access points, bandwidth optimization
Servers :
Windows/Linux, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), domain controllers
Power backup systems :
UPS, inverters, generator integration
Data & application backup :
automated backup solutions, disaster recovery planning & BCP
Endpoint Security & Asset Protection
- Deploy and manage Sophos Endpoint Protection across all IT assets using Sophos Central
- Monitor threats, enforce policies, and manage licenses
Enterprise Email Administration
Manage
multi-tenant enterprise email environments
for the company and its clients across :
Google Workspace :
domain setup, MX record configuration, routing policies
Zoho Mail :
split delivery, coexistence with other platforms
Microsoft 365 :
internal relay domains, send connectors, hybrid routing
- Configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for secure email delivery
- Ensure seamless coexistence and routing between platforms using split delivery and catch-all policies
Web Hosting & Database Management
- Administer web servers (IIS, Apache) and SQL databases
- Perform backups, optimize performance, and manage hosting platforms like cPanel and GoDaddy
Desktop & End-User Support
Lead the desktop support team for :
Windows laptops :
OS deployment, patching, antivirus, device policies
macOS systems :
MDM configuration, security compliance, performance optimizationOversee IT asset management and lifecycle tracking
Technical Leadership
- Architect and maintain hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + cloud)
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve system reliability and scalability
- Ensure compliance with security standards and data protection regulations
Project & Team Management
- Plan and execute IT infrastructure upgrades and rollouts
- Mentor junior engineers and support staff; conduct performance reviews
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware/software procurement and support
IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Set up and manage ITSM processes using tools like ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus
- Design and automate workflows for incident, problem, change, and asset management
- Implement service catalogs, SLAs, and self-service portals
- Monitor service delivery performance and generate actionable insights
- Align IT services with business goals using ITIL-based best practices
Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with business units to align IT initiatives with operational goals
- Provide regular updates to leadership on system health, risks, and improvement plans
Required Skills & Qualifications
Qualification Details :
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Experience
- 5+ years in IT infrastructure and support, with 2+ years in a leadership role
Technical Skills
- Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), Windows Server, Linux, virtualization, backup solutions, email routing, endpoint management
Soft Skills :
Leadership, communication, troubleshooting, documentation, and vendor management
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications : CCNA, MCSE, ITIL, JAMF, or equivalent
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
- Familiarity with compliance standards (ISO 27001, GDPR)
