Job Title: Head – Engineering Department: Engineering Location: Ankleshwar API Reporting to: Site Head Educational Qualification: Full-time B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering (Mandatory) Industry Preference: Candidates must be from API / Bulk Drug Manufacturing environment Experience: 18+ years in Engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role Job Purpose: To lead the Engineering function at the site encompassing Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Utilities, and Engineering Stores. The role involves ensuring high equipment reliability, safe operations, regulatory compliance, cost-effective maintenance, and efficient budgeting and Capex execution to support continuous manufacturing in a regulated API environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Engineering Maintenance & Reliability Ensure efficient preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant equipment and utilities. Lead cross-functional engineering teams to achieve zero unplanned downtime and maximum equipment uptime. Implement root cause analysis and continuous improvement in maintenance practices. 2. Utilities Management Manage all utility systems (boilers, chillers, HVAC, air compressors, cooling towers, etc.) to ensure uninterrupted supply to manufacturing. Drive energy efficiency and utility optimization initiatives across the plant. 3. Instrumentation & Automation Ensure calibration, maintenance, and performance of critical instrumentation and process control systems. Work with cross-functional teams to support automation and control upgrades. 4. Engineering Stores Oversee stores management for engineering spares and consumables with optimal inventory levels. Ensure availability of critical spares and compliance with GMP documentation requirements. 5. Budgeting & Capex Management Prepare and manage annual engineering budget (Opex & Capex) for maintenance, projects, and utilities. Plan and execute Capex projects related to facility upgrades, new installations, expansions, and regulatory requirements. Ensure cost control, vendor coordination, procurement support, and timely project execution. 6. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with cGMP, GEP, statutory norms (Factory Act, Electrical safety, Boiler Act, etc.), and EHS requirements. Lead readiness for internal and external audits including USFDA, EDQM, WHO, and other regulatory agencies. Implement engineering controls to enhance safety and environment performance. 7. People Management Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team. Identify training needs, performance development, and succession planning. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong domain knowledge in engineering within API / Bulk Drug manufacturing. Proven track record in handling plant utilities and complex engineering operations. Strong understanding of Capex planning, vendor management, and project execution. Familiar with engineering documentation, SOPs, audit readiness, and validation practices. Leadership, analytical thinking, team management, and cross-functional collaboration.
