Designation:
The Vice President of Data Center Automation is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the automation, optimization, and security of data center operations. This position oversees IT infrastructure, cybersecurity protocols, Building Management System (BMS) operations, and OSS/BSS (Operational Support Systems/Business Support Systems) functions, ensuring seamless integration, efficiency, and resilience across all systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, strategic vision, and proven experience in managing large-scale data center and telecom/IT service environments.
Major Responsibilities:
IT & Cyber Security Operations Management
- Oversee the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and private cloud systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Implement and manage automation tools and frameworks to streamline IT operations, reduce manual intervention, and enhance system reliability.
- Lead incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning to minimize downtime and ensure operational resilience.
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures to protect data center assets from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Oversee security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management programs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
BMS Operations and Projects
- Lead the design, development, and integration of BMS/EPMS (Building Management System/Electrical Power Management System) solutions for data center environments.
- Optimize HVAC, power, cooling, and other critical facility systems through automation and real-time monitoring.
- Manage BMS-related projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with organizational goals.
OSS/BSS Operations and Projects
- Oversee the design, implementation, and automation of OSS (e.g., network provisioning, inventory management, fault detection) and BSS (e.g., billing, customer order management, CRM) systems to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Drive integration between OSS/BSS platforms and existing IT/data center infrastructure to enable end-to-end service automation and real-time analytics.
- Manage OSS/BSS transformation projects, including system upgrades, migration to cloud-native architectures, and adoption of AI/ML for predictive operations.
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align automation initiatives (IT, BMS, OSS/BSS) with business objectives.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, IoT, generative AI) to enhance automation and operational efficiency across all domains.
- Build and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Contract and Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and project execution.
- Negotiate contracts and oversee service-level agreements (SLAs) to maintain high standards of performance.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 25+ years of experience in IT operations, cybersecurity, data center management, or OSS/BSS domains, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven expertise in:
- IT infrastructure management and automation tools.
- Cybersecurity frameworks, threat intelligence, and incident response.
- BMS/EPMS systems, HVAC controls, and facility automation.
- OSS/BSS architectures, platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, network management systems), and telecom/IT service workflows.
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading large-scale automation and infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL, etc.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, OpenStack) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as Uptime Institute Tier Standards, LEED, ASHRAE, or eTOM/ITIL for OSS/BSS.
Familiarity with AI/ML and automation technologies applied to OSS/BSS modernization
