Job Summary:

Role Purpose

To establish and mature the company’s data, analytics, and AI function as a strategic enabler of digital transformation, ensuring data is managed as a key enterprise asset. The role will balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, building capabilities that enable innovation, operational efficiency, customer experience enhancement, and competitive differentiation in the automotive sector.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the data, analytics & AI strategy in alignment with the enterprise digital roadmap.
• Drive adoption of data-driven culture across business functions, fostering data literacy and analytics mindset.
• Partner with CXOs and business leaders to identify opportunities where AI/ML and advanced analytics can deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Represent the function in key governance councils and external industry forums.

Digital & Data Excellence

• Oversee the establishment of enterprise data architecture, governance, and master data management (MDM).
• Ensure the deployment of scalable platforms for data lakes, warehouses, and real-time analytics.
• Drive AI/ML solution development for predictive maintenance, connected vehicle insights, demand forecasting, supply chain optimization, and personalized customer engagement.
• Champion the use of ethical AI, responsible data use, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Capability Building

• Build and mentor a high-performing team including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Analytics professionals.
• Drive continuous skill development to stay ahead of emerging technologies (GenAI, IoT, digital twins).
• Foster strong collaboration with IT, business functions, and external ecosystem partners/startups.

Innovation & Value Creation

• Translate cutting-edge AI and analytics innovations into practical, scalable business solutions.
• Promote experimentation through pilots and proofs-of-concept, while ensuring rapid scaling of successful use cases.
• Leverage partnerships with OEMs, technology providers, academia, and startups for innovation.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

• Development and execution of enterprise Data & AI strategy.
• Establishment of robust data governance and MDM practices.
• Successful deployment of advanced analytics and AI use cases with measurable ROI.
• Improvement in organizational data literacy and adoption of data-driven decision-making.
• Reduction in operational costs and increase in business efficiencies enabled by AI solutions.
• Team capability growth and retention of top data & AI talent.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (Computer Science, IT, Electronics) with MBA or Master’s in Data/Analytics/AI preferred.
• Experience: 15–17 years of progressive experience in data, analytics, and AI, with at least 5 years in a leadership role driving enterprise-level transformation.
• Industry Exposure: Experience in automotive, manufacturing, mobility, or allied sectors preferred.
• Proven track record of leading data strategy, governance, and AI/ML deployment in complex, large-scale organizations.
• Strong stakeholder management, change management, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with modern data/AI platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and advanced analytics tools..

Other Details

• Travel: 20–30% (suppliers, plant sites, China/global tech partners).
• Location: Corporate HQ (India) with flexibility for plant presence.

Tools/Tech Exposure

• Data Platforms & Cloud: Proficiency in cloud ecosystems such as Azure Data Services, AWS Data Lake, Google Cloud etc.
• Data Engineering: Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks
• Data Analytics & BI Tools: Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau etc and embedded analytics solutions.
• Exposure to AI/ML Frameworks & Languages
• Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL
• Familiarity with MDM & Governance Tools
• Emerging Tech: Working knowledge of GenAI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face), IoT integration, digital twins, and connected vehicle platforms.
