Project Manager : Press Installation
Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Project manager with expertise in the Design review , installation, programming, and commissioning of 2000+ ton tandem press lines for automotive stamping applications. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of Siemens and Beckhoff PLC systems , deep experience with NC cushion systems , and hands-on familiarity with JIER press lines — a significant advantage in this role. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage end-to-end automation and commissioning for high-tonnage tandem press lines (2000+ tons) , focusing on NC cushion configuration and press synchronization . Program, integrate, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems using Siemens (S7-1500, S7-300) and Beckhoff . Configure and optimize NC cushion force profiles , travel curves, and timing parameters to meet forming and die protection requirements. Coordinate closely with OEMs, contractors, and internal teams to conduct FAT, SAT, dry runs, die tryouts , and full production handovers. Interface with press line automation including de-stackers, Blank washer, feed systems, transfer rails, end conveyors , and safety systems. Ensure full compliance with industrial safety standards (ISO 13849, OSHA, CE) for logic-driven E-stop, light curtain, and safety PLC functionality. Deliver detailed documentation, commissioning logs, backup PLC/HMI programs, and training packages for in-house teams. Collaborate with tooling, quality, and maintenance departments to support SPM, capability trials (Cp/Cpk), and process optimization . Act as the site lead for technical troubleshooting during installation and launch phases. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Diploma in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering. 15+ years of experience in the automotive stamping industry , with focus on 2000+ ton tandem press lines . Strong hands-on expertise in Siemens (S7) and Beckhoff for press control and automation. Solid experience in NC cushion setup , adjustment, and troubleshooting. Direct involvement in commissioning or maintaining JIER press lines (servo or mechanical) is a strong advantage . Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics, safety logic diagrams, and press system architecture. Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to manage cross-functional technical teams. Willing to travel domestically and internationally for extended site support during commissioning phases. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with robotic press automation , servo transfer rails, or progressive die setups. Experience with other high-tonnage press OEMs (e.g., Schuler, AIDA, Komatsu, Fagor). Understanding of SCADA integration, OPC-UA , and data logging for predictive maintenance. TPM, Lean Six Sigma, or maintenance reliability certifications are a plus. Work Environment: Field-intensive role during installation and commissioning with regular work on press shop floors. Must be comfortable working around large industrial machinery, sometimes during extended or off-shift hours. Travel required for on-site equipment launches, supplier visits, and global support.
