Your Role:

Finance Manager (Financial Reporting)

What you’ll be responsible for

1.) Reporting Integrity, Controls & Compliance Governance

• Maintain the highest level of control over the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial reporting outputs.
• Own review governance for:
• Trial balance hygiene, schedules, month‑end workings
• Statutory and tax filings
• Review the financial information submitted for ROC filings
• Ensure audit‑ready documentation, strong review trails, and timely closure of reporting dependencies.
• Lead the compliances and co-ordinate with consultants for statutory, tax, payroll compliances
• Building SOPs/internal controls from scratch in a scaling startup
• Lead end‑to‑end statutory audits with Big6 firms (preferred) or equivalent.
• Ensure audit learnings translate into stronger controls and better reporting processes.

2.) Month‑Close

• Lead the month‑close review cycle: timelines, checklists, sign‑offs, and output quality.
• Review journals/accruals/provisions/cut‑offs and ensure the close adheres to documented accounting policies.
• Own creation and maintenance of SOPs for:
• Close calendar & review checklists
• Reporting packs & schedule hygiene
• Controls around master data, approvals, and documentation
• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) with high accuracy and strong narratives.
• Support in ad‑hoc reporting for leadership, investors, and strategic decisions.

3.) Process Improvement, Automation & Internal Audit Mindset

• Drive process improvements with a strong automation lens:
• Advanced Excel
• Bring an internal audit mindset:
• Identify control gaps, run periodic internal checks, implement preventive controls, and strengthen review mechanisms
• Improve ERP discipline and reporting quality through:
• Better masters/structures, review controls, and system‑based checks

4.) Team Management

• Lead and mentor a small team for quality control, prioritization, training, and accountability.
• Coordinate cross‑functionally for reporting inputs and close dependencies.
• Communicate clearly with leadership and auditors; proactively flag risks and drive closures.

An ideal candidate should have:

• Qualified CA with 3–5 years post-qualification experience in financial reporting / controllership / audit environment (startup or fast‑paced preferred).
• Strong hands‑on capability in:
• Have lead due diligence by external agencies ensuring historical financials, schedules, and reconciled reports (preferred)
• Monthly MIS + financial statements + cashflow
• Month close reviews and output sign‑offs
• Statutory audit leadership (Big6 preferred)
• Tax & payroll compliance oversight (GST/TDS/PF/ESIC/PT — review governance)
• Tooling:
• Advanced Excel (Power Query/Power Pivot preferred; strong modelling + automation capability)
• ERP/accounting systems: Zoho Books / Oracle (any one deeply)
• High ownership, attention to detail, strong judgment, and ability to thrive in ambiguity.
