Introduction to the Role:

The position is for a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Planning & Reporting Manager VPPHO. This role is within the Paper Division and is located in Hyderabad, India.


Position Summary:

In the Paper Division, the Financial Accountant role involves supporting the finance team across various functions, including accounts payable, financial reporting, budget management, and ad hoc financial tasks. This position is crucial for ensuring high-quality data integrity and providing essential support to optimise the financial efficiency of operations. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial software, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.


Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the role are divided into several key areas:


Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights that support strategic decision-making within the division.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, providing clear and actionable financial insights to senior management.


Compliance and Audit Coordination:

  • Ensure all financial activities adhere to internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data and reporting.


General Ledger Maintenance and Reconciliation:

  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
  • Perform account reconciliations and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.


Budgeting and Forecasting Support:

  • Collaborate with the finance team to assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial plans align with divisional objectives.
  • Provide analysis and support for budget variance analysis and forecasting activities.
  • Contribute to the development of financial models to facilitate informed strategic planning.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with divisional leaders and the finance team to ensure financial objectives and processes are aligned with business needs.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, providing insights and addressing financial queries.
  • Support initiatives to enhance financial literacy and understanding within the division.


Key Challenges:

The Financial Accountant will face the following key challenges:

  • Managing workload amidst peak accounting periods.
  • Ensuring compliance with ever-changing financial regulations and standards.
  • Adapting to new finance software implementation or updates.


Key Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications

Mandatory (critical for the role):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within the manufacturing or paper industry.
  • Proficiency in financial software such as SAP or Oracle, and advanced Excel skills.


Desirable (preferable for the role):

  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis within a division-based or multi-national organisation.


Skills:

The required skills include:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for effective financial management.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
