Eaton India Innovation Center is seeking a Director Software Applications in Pune.

Job Summary

At Eaton India Innovation Center, Digital Engineering organization is looking for a Senior Engineering Leader to join our CSPP team! This position is based at our office in Magarpatta City, Pune

The Scope Of The Role Includes

  • Continue to lead all the applications for various segments (Industrial, Data Center, Utilities, EMEA, GEIS) and manage a diverse team of developers, quality assurance engineers and more. Partnering with Global team to build strategy around future road map for all these business segments. This is an existing team of 150+ engineers with various management leads for specific verticals.
The role definition has also expanded and gives opportunity for brand new development in:
  • Involvement in the recent acquisitions and lead the integration of these platforms and applications into the core Digital strategy (works closely and now reports into VP Applications, Globally)
  • Define, design and develop platforms (scratch development) for the newly constructed EMEA service offering business along with SVP, GM EMEA for Energy Transition
  • Define, design and develop the new "inter-operability and systems testing lab" which will be the first one at Eaton level - this becomes a core for Brightlayer device compatibility in the market and a defined process for on-boarding 3rd party devices. This brand new definition is driven along with CPD (MRDS, ICD) and the digital org leadership team.
  • Build a digital scrum team and deliver "Data Monetization Components” to be leveraged by all segments. These common components shall accelerate time to market and reduce the development cost of Eaton data oriented offerings (Data as a Service, Insights as a service) by providing foundational services that market facing teams will build upon to deliver solutions to customers.
  • Critical to the success of this role is the candidate’s ability to understand the products and services of Eaton. Ability to translate business requirements into practical application, ensuring that concepts get fully executed into product offerings that achieve a defined business outcome including transformation from legacy to microservices architecture. You will lead the team by setting priorities and goals, ensuring the achievement of deliverables and other milestones, collaborations with other teams, establishing a progressive work culture and improve standards in how we deliver for our customers.
A successful candidate for this role will have prior organizational leadership experience. You can connect with your team on a technological level and have an excellent foundation in software design. You are driven, team-oriented, with vision and an energizing leadership style to strategic influence and drive change. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and tasks while adapting quickly to changing priorities.You are passionate, empathetic to customer needs, growing people and the organization. What You’ll Do

  • Experience developing and deploying applications in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem
  • Build a world class software development team to consistently deliver complex software platforms and research projects for domains such as industrial manufacturing, automation, electrical/energy automation is preferred
  • Attract, recruit, and lead next gen digital talent team
  • Agile development methodologies
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in software design and best practices in developing customer-orientated platforms in the context of SaaS applications
  • Experience in system design and working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (such as Amazon Web Services), common development tools and secure coding practices
  • Ability to work in matrixed environments
  • Track record of demonstrated success in delivery of large-scale software development programs
  • Proven track record of building and managing successful software delivery teams
  • Capability to develop processes and digital platforms to be driven across a diversified group of business segments
  • Experience and success with developing and commercializing digital technologies
  • Empathizes and actively learns about customer’s needs and how they create value
  • Builds relationships outside of engineering to understand, influence, and be their advocate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • Preferred - Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 20 to 25 years of design experience software products and/or embedded systems
  • Prior experience as organizational leader for a minimum of 5 to 7 years in globally distributed teams
  • Experience utilizing best practices in software engineering, Agile development methodologies and concepts
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps

Technical Knowledge

  • Lead the Application development team through management and mentorship in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and overall vision
  • Build engineering discipline for execution of medium to long range programs as they relate to intelligent power management solutions; develop and execute a software engineering culture
  • Interact with key stakeholders to recommend solutions aligned to business roadmaps
  • Recommend technological developments and improvements
  • Align and prioritize current and future development initiatives in support of our business objectives
  • Build high performance teams that can deliver across functions, geographies, time zones, and cultures.
  • Build highly skilled teams focused on key technology growth areas such as software engineering, embedded systems, wireless communications, cybersecurity and user interfaces.
  • Promote a culture of technology and intellectual property leadership.
  • Develop procedures and common metrics to ensure that efficiency, collaboration, and quality standards are met
  • Manage project planning, including allocation of resources, assignment and coordination
  • Lead recruitment activities in partnership with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition teams
  • Partner with Finance for ongoing management of budgets and resources
  • Participate in the creation of technology road map based on Product/COE Strategy globally and deploy them within the group and build organization’s capability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the value proposition and quality of the engineering deliverables.
