This is what is all about.We are looking to hire a Director, Head of Operational Risk India, to join our second line of defense Operational Risk team. This position is based in Pune, India, with an expectation of 4-5 days per week in the office. The role will report to the India Head of Risk and Compliance located in Pune.In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead the second line of defense Operational Risk team in India, overseeing identification and analysis of risk areas, emerging concerns, patterns, and trends to proactively mitigate operational risk exposures.
- Own key components of the Operational Risk program, including defining and enforcing risk assessment methodologies, standards, and frameworks, while managing and influencing senior stakeholders across global locations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners within the second line Operational Risk team and first line business lines to design, implement, and continuously improve risk assessment processes and controls, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory and internal requirements.
- Provide actionable insights and transparency into the firm's operational risk profile to drive informed risk management decisions and embed a strong risk culture across the organization.
- Leverage data analytics, technology, and operational risk tools to enhance monitoring capabilities of business line risk profiles, incident management, and risk exposure data, enabling timely identification and escalation of risks.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive, program-specific reporting including scorecards, dashboards, and management reports that deliver clear, concise, and relevant operational risk information to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Champion consistent, rigorous, and effective risk challenge and oversight practices to ensure robust second line of defense controls and governance.
- Manage and develop the India Operational Risk team through recruitment, training, performance management, career development, and resource planning, while fostering collaboration and alignment with the global Operational Risk function.
- Drive initiatives to strengthen the firm's risk culture locally, including awareness programs, training, and embedding accountability for operational risk management within business units.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging operational risk trends to ensure the firm's risk framework remains current and effective.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- 12-15 years of prior work experience in a global financial or professional services firm, with at least 5 years specifically in operational risk management, audit, or compliance roles. Demonstrated global risk management experience is essential given our cross-regional operational risk profile.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills, including experience managing teams and balancing multiple deliverables and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong technical risk management capabilities, including advanced data analytics, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills, to effectively analyze operational risk events and drive risk reduction initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all lines of defense and multiple regions/time zones, fostering a strong risk culture.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing and presenting complex risk information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, and adaptability to rapidly assimilate new information and operate with a strong delivery focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in business, finance, engineering, or related disciplines; relevant industry certifications or qualifications are advantageous.
