About the Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to execute a comprehensive data engineering transformation for our lending industry client. This is a unique opportunity to architect, build, and implement a complete data ecosystem, encompassing data architecture, ETL pipelines, governance frameworks, and quality assurance systems. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to transform raw data into actionable intelligence, leveraging cloud platforms and big data technologies. If you're passionate about solving complex problems with data and driving innovation, we’d love to hear from you! 🚀

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Design

  • Design and implement scalable, cloud-native data architecture for lending operations
  • Establish data modeling standards and best practices for transactional, analytical, and regulatory data
  • Create comprehensive data flow diagrams and technical documentation
  • Design data lake/lakehouse architecture optimized for lending use cases (loan origination, underwriting, servicing, collections)

ETL Pipeline Development

  • Build robust, fault-tolerant ETL/ELT pipelines for real-time and batch processing
  • Implement data ingestion from multiple sources (core banking systems, credit bureaus, third-party APIs, flat files)
  • Develop data transformation logic for loan lifecycle management and regulatory reporting
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and recovery mechanisms for pipeline reliability

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Implement comprehensive data governance framework aligned with lending regulations (GDPR, CCPA, fair lending practices)
  • Establish data lineage tracking and impact analysis capabilities
  • Design and implement data retention and archival policies
  • Create data classification and access control frameworks

Data Quality Management

  • Develop automated data quality monitoring and validation frameworks
  • Implement data profiling, anomaly detection, and quality scoring systems
  • Create data quality dashboards and reporting mechanisms
  • Establish data quality SLAs and remediation processes

Platform & Infrastructure

  • Deploy and configure modern data platforms (cloud data warehouses, streaming platforms, workflow orchestration)
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for reproducible environments
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows
  • Optimize performance and cost management across data infrastructure

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and cloud-native databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline tools/frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka, Glue, Fivetran).
  • Solid experience in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including storage, compute, and orchestration services.
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, cataloging, and quality frameworks (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Great Expectations).
  • Strong coding skills in Python or Scala for data transformations and automation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, transformation-focused environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
