Role Overview

The Cost Auditor will be responsible for verifying, evaluating, and certifying the cost records of the company in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013 and the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). The role ensures accuracy in cost statements, proper cost allocation, and compliance with statutory cost audit requirements relevant to the solar manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

Statutory Responsibilities

• Conduct cost audit as per Section 148 of the Companies Act, 2013 and Cost Audit Rules.
  
• Review Cost Accounting Records (Cost Sheets, Material Records, Utility Records, Production Consumption Records).
  
• Prepare and certify CRA-1 (Cost Records) and CRA-2/CRA-4 (Cost Audit Report).
  
• Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS-1 to CAS-24).
  
• Assist management in filing statutory returns with MCA.
  

Financial & Cost Analysis

• Evaluate product costing, overhead absorption, and cost allocation across the manufacturing units.
  
• Analyse bill of materials (BOM), production losses, wastages, and efficiency ratios.
  
• Verify inventory valuation (raw material, WIP, finished goods).
  
• Review procurement cost, vendor-wise comparisons, freight, and logistics cost.
  
• Ensure accuracy and reliability in cost statements and profitability reports.
  

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Analyse and report cost deviations, anomalies, and variances.
  
• Recommend cost optimisation strategies for manufacturing operations.
  
• Evaluate internal controls related to production, consumption, and inventory management.
  
• Ensure compliance with GST Input Credit, consumption records, price variances, and stock movement records.
  

Coordination & Reporting

• Liaise with finance, production, purchase, and warehouse teams to gather data.
  
• Conduct periodic cost reviews with management.
  
• Prepare MIS reports related to costing, variance analysis, and audit findings.
  
• Present audit observations and recommendations to senior management.
  

Required Qualifications

• Qualified Cost Accountant (CMA) from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
  
• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in cost audit, preferably in manufacturing, energy, electronics, or solar sector.
  
• Knowledge of Companies Act, Cost Audit Rules, and Cost Accounting Standards.
  
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Tally Prime, Zoho, etc.).
  
• Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
  
• Ability to work cross-functionally with production, purchase, finance, and compliance teams.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in solar manufacturing / electronics industry.
  
• Strong understanding of BOM, production planning, yield analysis, and material management.
  
• Knowledge of GST costing compliance and inventory control systems.
  
• High proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, dashboards).
  
• Strong communication, coordination, and audit writing skills.
