Job Summary:
We are seeking a Import-Export Manager to assist with customs compliance and litigation support. The role involves ensuring regulatory compliance in import-export activities, responding to customs notices, supporting legal teams in customs litigation, and coordinating with relevant authorities.Key Responsibilities:
- Customs Compliance & Documentation
- Assist in customs clearance procedures for imports and exports.
- Ensure proper classification (HSN/HTS codes) and valuation of goods.
- Maintain compliance with Customs Act, 1962, and other trade regulations.
- Verify import/export documentation (BOE, invoices, shipping bills, etc.).
- Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders for smooth clearance.
- Customs Notice & Litigation Support
- Assist in responding to customs notices (Show Cause Notices, Demand Notices, etc.).
- Gather supporting documents for customs authorities and legal teams.
- Prepare basic drafts of replies to customs queries and notices.
- Track and manage litigation cases, appeals, and penalty proceedings.
- Support senior legal/compliance officers in customs adjudication hearings.
- Trade Regulations & Compliance Monitoring
- Stay updated on customs duty structures, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and tariff changes.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, RBI, and other trade regulatory requirements.
- Conduct basic audits to verify customs compliance in import/export transactions.
- Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, finance, legal) and external stakeholders.
- Maintain records of notices, appeals, and customs correspondences.
- Prepare monthly compliance reports for management review.
- Review and Audits
- Identify evolving risk classification and areas.
- Conduct basic health checks
- Mandatory verification of the identified trouble creating classifications.
- Verify and standardize classification of same parts across all locations and brokers.
- Maintain a centralized MIS for all customs legal matters, including:
- Consultative Letters, Show Cause Notices (SCN) received, replies filed, and current status.
- Duty demands, payments made, and cases closed.
- Litigation tracking – adjudication, appeals, and tribunal matters.
- Pending cases with remarks on next action or hearing dates.
- Support management reviews with data-driven insights to identify recurring issues and improve compliance processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (any stream) is mandatory.
- Specialization in Import/Export Management, International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Law, or MBA preferred.
- Prior experience of working with consulting firms will be preferred.
- Experience:
- 6-8 years of hands-on experience in customs compliance, import-export operations, or legal support
- Experience in customs compliance consulting.
- Exposure to customs adjudication, appeals, and trade compliance audits.
- Familiarity with customs portals – ICEGATE, DGFT, MOS, SEZ Online, and CHA coordination processes.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Customs Laws: Understanding of the Customs Act, 1962, and trade compliance
- Strong knowledge of HS Code classification, Customs Duty structure, IGCR, FTP & Import Licensing.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with ICEGATE, DGFT portals, SAP, or ERP systems (preferred).
