Job Summary
An Accountant is Responsible for managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring regulatory compliance (GST, TDS, Income Tax), and providing financial reports to management for the sales, service, and spare parts departments
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Core Accounting & Bookkeeping
Daily Transaction Management: Accurately record all daily financial transactions related to vehicle sales, service jobs, spare parts sales, and general expenses in the accounting software (e.g., Tally ERP, QuickBooks).
Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage customer billings, track outstanding payments, and ensure timely collection of dues from financing companies, customers, and insurance claims.
Accounts Payable (AP): Process and verify vendor invoices (for vehicles, spare parts, and overheads), reconcile vendor statements, and manage timely payments.
Bank & Cash Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts, cash transactions, and credit/debit card settlements.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Financial Statements: Prepare and finalize monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (Income) Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
Sales & Expense Analysis: Analyze sales revenue by department (New Vehicle, Service, Spares) and monitor operational expenses to identify variances and opportunities for cost reduction.
Management Information System (MIS): Generate periodic financial reports for management, providing clear insights into the center's financial health, departmental profitability, and key performance indicators.
3. Statutory Compliance & Auditing
Taxation: Ensure timely and accurate calculation, payment, and filing of all statutory returns, including:
Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns.
Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) calculation and filing.
Professional Tax, Income Tax, and other relevant taxes.
Payroll: Assist with processing employee payroll, calculating wages, commissions, deductions, and ensuring timely disbursement.
Audit Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external auditors, preparing necessary documentation and resolving audit queries.
Legal Compliance: Ensure all financial practices comply with local, state, and central government regulations and company policies.
4. Inventory and Fixed Assets
Inventory Accounting: Maintain accurate inventory records for new vehicles and spare parts, reconcile physical inventory counts with book balances, and account for stock in transit and stock damaged/obsolete.
Fixed Assets: Maintain a register of fixed assets and calculate depreciation accurately.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) or Accounting is mandatory. A Master's degree (M.Com) or professional certification (e.g., CA Inter, CMA Inter) is preferred.
Requirement
Valid two wheeler and four wheeler license
Experience:
Minimum 2-4 years of experience as an Accountant, preferably within an automotive dealership (two-wheeler or four-wheeler) or a retail/service-oriented business.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Accounting Software: Mandatory working knowledge of industry-standard software (e.g., Tally ERP, Zoho Books, or similar automotive-specific DMS/Accounting systems).
Advanced MS Excel Skills: Ability to use VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and financial functions for data analysis and reporting.
