Key Responsibilities The AQE's duties are heavily focused on practical site inspection and testing for pavement works: Field Inspection and Supervision (QA/QC): Monitor and inspect the quality of earthwork, filling, and embankment construction (e.g., layer thickness, slope stability). Supervise the laying and compaction of Sub-Base (GSB) and Base Layers (WMM/WBM) , ensuring required layer thickness and camber are achieved. Oversee Bituminous Paving operations, including checking temperatures of mix plants and pavers, spreading rates, and compaction patterns. Conduct pre-pour checks for all structures (culverts, retaining walls, bridges) including rebar clearance, shuttering, and concrete mix design compliance. Testing and Compliance: Assist in performing or supervising all mandatory field tests such as: Soil Compaction Tests (Core Cutter or Sand Replacement Method). Field Density Tests (FDTs) .
