Job Summary

The two-wheeler mechanic diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical issues in motorcycles and scooters. The mechanic works with a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment, adheres to safety standards, and often interacts directly with customers to explain the nature of repairs and estimated costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and Troubleshooting:

    • Identify the cause of vehicle malfunctions through visual inspection, test rides, and diagnostic tools.
    • Listen to customer descriptions of problems and ask clarifying questions.
    • Pinpoint issues in the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
  • Repair and Maintenance:

    • Perform a variety of repairs, from simple tasks like changing oil and spark plugs to complex engine rebuilds and electrical system repairs.
    • Replace worn-out or damaged parts, such as tires, brakes, chains, sprockets, and cables.
    • Adjust and tune components to manufacturer specifications.
    • Service and inspect vehicles for safety and performance, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights.
    • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks according to service manuals.
  • Customer Service:

    • Communicate effectively with customers to explain the necessary repairs and provide accurate estimates.
    • Keep customers informed of the progress of the repair.
    • Answer customer questions about vehicle maintenance and best practices.
  • Documentation and Administration:

    • Record all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
    • Maintain an organized and clean work area.
    • Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations in the workshop.
    • Properly dispose of hazardous materials and waste fluids.
    • Ensure all repairs meet legal and safety standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:

    A high school diploma or equivalent is often the minimum requirement. Many employers prefer candidates with a vocational school certificate or an associate's degree in a related field, such as motorcycle technology.ITI certification in two wheeler mechanism.
  • Experience:

    4-5 years of experience as a two wheeler Mechanic, Preferably in a dealership settings.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of motorcycle and scooter engines, braking systems, and electrical components.
    • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and wiring diagrams.
    • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment.
