Job Title: Vendor Development Engineer – Electrical

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Vendor Development Engineer (Electrical) to manage the identification, evaluation, and development of reliable vendors for electrical components and systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with design, procurement, and production teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials while maintaining cost-efficiency and compliance with standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vendor Identification & Evaluation:
• Identify and qualify new vendors for electrical components, wiring harnesses, connectors, motors, controllers, and other subassemblies.
• Assess vendors based on quality systems, manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and cost.
• Technical Collaboration:
• Work with the design and engineering teams to define technical specifications and quality standards for components.
• Support vendors with drawings, samples, and clarifications related to electrical systems.
• Cost Negotiation & Optimization:
• Analyze cost structures and lead negotiations to ensure competitive pricing without compromising on quality.
• Conduct benchmarking and cost-saving exercises with alternative vendors or materials.
• Vendor Performance Management:
• Monitor and evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and compliance.
• Initiate corrective actions or development plans where necessary.
• Quality Assurance Support:
• Coordinate with the QA team for vendor audits, incoming inspection plans, and sample approvals.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for any supplier quality issues.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain vendor master data, technical documentation, and commercial records.
• Generate periodic reports on vendor status, cost trends, and risk assessments.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of standards such as ISO, BIS, IEC, and automotive/e-mobility compliance norms is a plus.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with vendor audit processes, quality tools (5S, 8D, FMEA, etc.), and ERP systems.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech)
• Postgraduate qualifications in Supply Chain or Vendor Management (optional but advantageous)

Experience Required:

• 2–5 years of experience in vendor development, preferably in the automotive, EV, electronics, or electrical manufacturing industries.
