Solar Project Engineer

Role Overview

The Solar Project Engineer will be responsible for the technical planning, coordination, and execution of solar PV projects, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and floating solar plants. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams — including design, procurement, operations, and business development — to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in full compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct

  site surveys and feasibility studies

  to evaluate project viability, including load assessments and grid connectivity requirements.
• Prepare

  detailed engineering drawings

  , layouts, and electrical schematics using tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or Helioscope.
• Develop accurate

  BOMs (Bill of Materials)

  , equipment specifications, and procurement schedules in coordination with vendors and procurement teams.
• Monitor

  installation activities

  on-site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with utility companies and government authorities for

  approvals, net-metering, and compliance documentation

• Support

  commissioning and performance testing

  of plants to ensure optimal energy generation.
• Provide

  technical support

  to O&M teams during handover and in resolving post-commissioning performance issues.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and technical manuals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering (Master’s is a plus).
• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
• Proficiency in PV system design software (PVsyst, Helioscope) and CAD drafting tools.
• Knowledge of national/international standards (IEC, IEEE, BIS) and MNRE/CEA guidelines.
• Familiarity with grid integration requirements, load flow analysis, and basic electrical safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
