Role Overview

Key Responsibilities:

• Chubb is seeking an experienced Storage Operations Engineer to join our growing Distributed IT Operations team, providing support for the Enterprise Storage.
• The Storage Operations Engineer would require a minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience supporting Dell EMC Block and File Storage systems, including but not limited to PowerMax, PowerStore, PowerScale (Isilon) and Pure environments.
• Seeking motivated technical professionals who specialize in providing support for enterprise level Storage infrastructure and related services, focusing on stability and performance.
• The position holder will be primarily focused on performing operational functions of Chubb’s Block and File storage Infrastructure environment; activities include but not limited to the support and maintenance of multiple Dell EMC, Pure and IBM storage environments, monitoring, alerting, availability, resource and performance management.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Investigation and diagnosis of incidents and problems, as well as provisioning activities relating to Block Storage, File Storage, and Storage Fabric switch environments.

• Participate in a follow the sun operational model supporting and maintaining the Block and File Storage Infrastructure for Global systems.

• Provide on-call and after-hours support to address incidents, maintain infrastructure and support operational efforts.

• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of file and block storage systems, as well as storage fabric switches.

• Monitor and enforce the capacity and performance standards, metrics and thresholds and help build the instrumentation to effectively manage the environment.

• Work closely with network, security, development, application and support teams in the implementation of infrastructure components that support emerging technologies and applications.

• Create and maintain system documentation for the storage infrastructure (SAN switches, storage, NAS) technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps.

• Implement common preventive maintenance practices for Dell PowerMax, PowerStore, Pure and PowerScale (Isilon).

• Monitors, escalates, and re-mediate NAS & SAN device/application (access, performance, events) alerts to identify potential incidents.

• Providing Level 1 and 2 DAS, SAN, NAS Configuring and administering support and expertise as it relates to the storage environment as needed.

• Provide expertise with the configuration, and administration, tuning, optimizing and troubleshooting for NFS / CIFS protocol on Dell EMC Isilon (PowerScale) storage.

• Ensure that system improvements and changes are implemented and monitor effects of the modifications.

• Help Identify risks within the Storage Infrastructure.
• Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans.

• Participate in change, incident, and problem management for enterprise storage systems.

  Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Extensive and recent support and engineering experience in hardware, operating systems, storage, and virtualization technologies in a global multi-data center enterprise organization.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Dell EMC PowerMax, PowerStore, Pure, and Unity block storage systems, related technologies, and protocols

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Cisco MDS Storage Fabrics.

  • Working knowledge of Dell EMC PowerScale (Isilon NAS) systems.

  • Knowledge and experience with IBM XIV and FlashSystem are a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with VMware hypervisors (VMware vSphere 7.x, 8.x) and VMware Cloud Foundation is a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco UCS and Dell PowerEdge MX server hardware is a plus.

  • Experience in storage migration technology a plus.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving, and the ability to debug complex-cross systems problems, and document root cause including remediation and detection.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of technology towers i.e.: Storage, Data Center Migration and Disaster Recovery

  • Knowledge of risk and controls landscape, ensuring company-wide standards are met.

  • Ability to collaborate with different technology towers to achieve common goals.

  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
