Porch is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive
Project Manager
to manage the expansion of BriteCore (policy administration system) to handle our insurance business in additional states. A successful candidate will serve as a main point of contact between our product and configuration teams, testing team, and business stakeholders to ensure projects are executed efficiently, goals are met, and any risks or developments to the timelines are communicated early and mitigated appropriately. This role is not responsible for an engineering team, but will need to exercise project management skills to influence timelines owned by others in and potentially outside of the organization. Given the strategic nature of the projects to be implemented, this role requires a strong understanding of the insurance industry, project management expertise, and excellent, proactive communication skills.
Project Planning & Execution
What You Will Do As A Senior Project Manager
- Project Leadership: Manage the entire lifecycle of state migration projects, ensuring timely and within-scope delivery.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., IT/engineering, product, testing, and business operations) to ensure that business objectives are achieved and upstream and downstream partners are informed of potential risks and opportunities
- Detailed Planning: Create and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, and communication strategies for migration projects.
- Risk Management: Identify, log, and track risks associated with project plans, escalating issues to Program Management as necessary.
- Task Unblocking: Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to resolve any project impediments, such as gathering requirements or addressing technical challenges.
- Status Reporting: Prepare and present regular status reports on project progress, issues, and outcomes to senior leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
- Feedback Analysis: Collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution
- Proactive Issue Resolution: Work with the Program Manager to identify and resolve any issues or challenges related to stakeholder relationships or project execution.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with team members to address discrepancies, delays, or technical problems, providing effective solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess the effectiveness of stakeholder partnerships and recommend process improvements to enhance project outcomes.
Relationship Management
- Relationship Building: Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with all stakeholders to ensure successful collaboration and alignment with mutual goals throughout the migration process.
- Regular Coordination: Schedule and conduct regular meetings and check-ins to ensure the needs and expectations of all parties are consistently met.
Basic Qualifications
What You Will Do As A Senior Project Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, within the insurance industry preferred
- Experience managing relationships with external partners or vendors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering results.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP or similar) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry
- Knowledge of insurance technology platforms, policy admin systems, and/or comparative rating tools.
- Experience with data analysis, risk analysis, and performance metrics.
- Proven ability to manage projects and represent company interests with 3rd parties
- Ability to work within core US business hours / time zone expectations - Eastern Standard Time (EST) overlap
- Workspace: A quiet space to work, an internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download | 10 Mbps upload
