Purpose/Objective


    Incharge - International BD is responsible for driving business growth and expanding the company’s renewable energy (RE) projects across international markets. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and executing new business opportunities in international geographies, with a focus on EPC services, policy and regulatory excellence, and strategic partnerships. The role also includes leading M&A activities, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring that business strategies align with global market trends and regulatory frameworks to maximize profitability and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    International Business Growth: Identify and evaluate EPC opportunities for the company’s renewable energy projects in international markets, focusing on key regions such as Sri Lanka and other strategically relevant geographies. Lead efforts to expand the company’s footprint in international markets, driving the identification of new business opportunities and the strategic execution of renewable energy (RE) projects. Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., operations, legal, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., governments, contractors, regulators) to ensure seamless project execution, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Ensure the delivery of cost-effective EPC solutions to maximize profitability while maintaining high operational efficiency across business units in diverse international regions. Regularly assess emerging market opportunities, ensuring the company remains competitive and is positioned as a leader in international renewable energy markets. M&A and Value Accretion: Assist in evaluating potential M&A opportunities by conducting comprehensive due diligence on aspects such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), regulatory requirements, and the overall strategic fit of projects. Identify and assess opportunities to add value to the existing project portfolio and pipeline, including evaluating potential project implementations within or outside energy parks, and optimizing transmission planning. Leverage available policy incentives to improve internal rate of returns (IRR) and explore innovative solutions that boost project profitability and financial viability. Continuously monitor international renewable energy trends to propose M&A strategies aligned with the company’s long-term growth and financial goals. Policy Advocacy and Regulatory Excellence: Stay informed about international regulatory frameworks, rules, and policies that impact renewable energy projects, ensuring the company remains compliant and well-positioned in each market. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies that navigate complex regulatory landscapes and deliver the most cost-effective solutions to clients. Actively engage in policy advocacy by tracking regulatory developments, analyzing competitor strategies, and representing the company at international forums, conferences, and seminars to promote business growth. Influence policy and regulations that benefit the company and the renewable energy industry, ensuring favorable outcomes in areas such as tax incentives, carbon credits, and sustainability measures. Stakeholder Management and Proposal Development: Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory authorities, corporate clients, and internal teams, to ensure alignment on business objectives and successful execution of international projects. Lead the preparation of project proposals, definitive agreements, and ensure thorough documentation, alignment with regulatory requirements, and clarity in financial terms and scope of work. Develop innovative solutions for selling environmental attributes (e.g., green power) to large corporate clients, within and outside the company group, ensuring optimal value capture and alignment with client sustainability goals. Work with internal and external teams to ensure timely and accurate contract negotiations and execution, minimizing risks and maximizing returns on renewable energy projects. Business Strategy and Market Insights: Collaborate with senior leadership to identify strategic opportunities for international market penetration and growth, aligning business strategies with global industry trends and internal company goals. Conduct thorough competitor analysis to understand market dynamics, identify regulatory changes, and monitor factors that influence international business opportunities. Regularly provide business development reports and strategic insights, highlighting progress on key initiatives, challenges faced, and necessary adjustments to meet international growth targets. Use data-driven insights to adjust business strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and the successful entry into high-potential international markets. Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all documentation, including project proposals, contracts, agreements, and regulatory submissions, are meticulously prepared, accurate, and comply with local and international regulations. Implement standardized processes for maintaining project documentation, ensuring seamless access and retrieval for internal audits, compliance checks, and future reference. Oversee the accurate recording and tracking of key metrics, including progress on EPC projects, M&A activities, policy advocacy efforts, and business development initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Ensure thorough documentation of stakeholder interactions, agreements, and business development activities, providing transparent and actionable reports for senior leadership. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a specialization in Renewable Energy, International Business, or Policy Advocacy is preferred. Work Experience: 8-10 years of experience in international business development, renewable energy, or EPC services, with a proven track record in leading international market expansion and project execution. Experience in managing M&A activities, evaluating regulatory frameworks, and driving strategic business initiatives in international markets. Strong understanding of the renewable energy market, EPC project lifecycle, and policy advocacy in global contexts. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and lead cross-functional teams for successful business development and project delivery.
