We are looking for a highly skilled L4 Senior Infrastructure Architect with deep expertise in Linux systems, OpenStack cloud platforms, and open-source hosting environments. This is a senior individual contributor position focused on architecture, complex problem solving, and handling P0/P1 incidents.
You will drive infrastructure design, troubleshoot critical issues, and guide technical best practices across Linux, OpenStack, cloud platforms, and hosting services.
· Architect, configure, and manage multi-tenant web hosting environments using WHM/cPanel, Cloud Linux, Lite Speed, and related hosting technologies.
· Perform advanced WHM administration including account provisioning, package/resource management, DNS zone configuration, security hardening, and backup strategy design.
· Manage cPanel environments end-to-end: domain management, SSL/AutoSSL setup, database administration, file systems, and resource optimization.
· Configure and manage mail servers (Exim, Dovecot) within WHM/cPanel including: – Email routing and mailbox provisioning – SMTP/IMAP/POP configuration – Spam filtering (SpamAssassin), greylisting, and outbound spam protection – DKIM, SPF, DMARC setup and maintenance – Secure mail transfer configuration (TLS/SSL) – Troubleshooting deliverability issues and resolving RBL/blacklist incidents – Monitoring and improving server IP/domain reputation
· Troubleshoot complex hosting issues involving Apache/LiteSpeed, PHP-FPM, MySQL/MariaDB, DNS, mail delivery, and performance bottlenecks.
· Execute lifecycle management: OS patching, kernel updates, PHP version upgrades, CMS/plugin updates, and dependency management in coordination with dev teams.
· Implement and maintain hosting security controls: ModSecurity/WAF rules, brute-force protection, malware scanning, IP filters, CageFS/Cloud Linux account isolation.
· Ensure high availability through proactive monitoring, log analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning for hosted workloads.
· Lead P0/P1 incident response, perform RCA, and implement corrective actions to enhance platform stability.
· Oversee automated backup/restore processes for websites, databases, and email data; ensure DR readiness.
· Support deployments and maintenance of CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, etc.) across shared and dedicated hosting environments.
· Drive operational efficiency through automation, scripted maintenance tasks, and continuous improvement aligned with PITS’s Kaizen principles.
People
· Mentor junior engineers and administrators, providing technical direction and code reviews.
· Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth deployment and performance optimization.
· Partner with cybersecurity and product teams for secure architecture design.
· Act as escalation point for complex production incidents.
7 – 10 years of hands-on Linux systems engineering and cloud infrastructure experience.
· Deep proficiency in:
o Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
o OpenStack services (Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Swift)
o Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM
o MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL
o WordPress, Magento, Drupal
· Strong understanding of:
o Networking: DNS, VLANs, load balancers, routing, SSL/TLS
o DevOps tools: Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Git, Jenkins
· Security hardening and compliance:
o Experience designing hybrid/multi-cloud architectures
· Certifications: RHCE, OpenStack Administrator, AWS/Azure Architect.
· Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Exposure to monitoring and log analytics (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
· Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO27001, SOC2, PCI DSS).
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
· Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex environments.
· Passion for open-source technologies and continuous learning.
