Job Description

Our client is an emerging health-tech startup building an AI-driven wellness and preventive care platform. The company is currently nearing its launch phase and expanding the internal operations team.

The Senior Executive – Finance & Accounts will be a hands-on finance professional responsible for day-to-day accounting, statutory compliance, payments, reconciliations and supporting financial planning & MIS activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with organizational goals and long-term business plans.
  • Financial planning and analysis activities, including preparation of budgets, forecasts, scenario models, and long-term financial plans to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, monthly accounts, MIS reports, management reports, and operational performance metrics, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely month-end closure.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of all financial data, records, and documentation across accounting functions.
  • Manage full statutory compliance, including GST, TDS, Income Tax filings, provisional tax computations, deferred tax workings, and coordination with auditors and tax agents.
  • Establish, document, and implement strong internal control procedures to improve financial governance and minimize risk.
  • Maintain and reconcile financial registers including bank accounts, fixed assets, stock records, and other critical ledgers; resolve unreconciled items proactively.
  • Review fixed assets, inventories, debtors, and other financial assets for impairment and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Review and validate financial documents submitted by internal departments to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Manage treasury operations including daily cash-flow monitoring, fund placements, and coordination with banks and financial institutions.
  • Execute day-to-day finance operations such as invoice issuance, vendor invoice processing, payments, collections, cash book maintenance, and petty cash handling.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly debtors and creditors aging reports; monitor overdue amounts and take action to maintain optimal working capital cycles.
  • Support the renewal of agreements, licenses, insurance policies, and other compliance-related documentation.
  • Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Participate in budgeting exercises, assist in OPEX and CAPEX reporting, and contribute to strategic financial planning.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with banks, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to finance and accounting team members to ensure operational excellence.
  • Continuously monitor changes in financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support ad hoc financial projects as assigned.
  • Perform any additional finance or accounting duties required to support the Company’s operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent finance qualification; part-qualified CAs / ICWAs or a Master’s/Bachelor’s in Commerce with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 plus years of hands-on experience in accounting & statutory compliance—startup or high-growth environment preferred.
  • Tools & Systems: Proficiency in Zoho Books; strong Excel skills.
  • Skills: Good numerical aptitude, attention to detail, ability to work with complex financial data and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills for cross-functional coordination.

Preferred Expertise

  • Practical experience with GST, TDS, Income Tax compliance and audit support.
  • Exposure to payroll processing and statutory filings (PF/ESI).
  • Familiarity with financial automation tools and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to prepare concise MIS and present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.

Job Type: Full-time

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
