Hey — I’m Rishabh, co-founder & COO at Flent. I lead tech, platform, and cashflow here. Now you might wonder — why is a COO running tech & platform? And if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see I’ve been a product manager most of my career. So then why am I building a real estate company? Fair questions. The truth is — Flent’s a bit of an anomaly. Titles don’t mean much. Backgrounds, even less. We go where curiosity takes us. And mine led me to own finance. At a company like Flent, financial leverage is what makes or breaks momentum. It’s also what turns the impossible, possible — because great homes do come at a cost. Cash moves fast here — from tenants to landlords, furniture vendors to society associations. Amongst a million debits and credits, a great cashflow management system is our bloodstream.I believe Finance isn’t just about keeping the books clean ; it’s about making every rupee pull its weight. With cash moving in and out constantly, there’s a real opportunity to build a powerful flywheel. Collect a little earlier, pay a little later, manage your float better — and you create space to grow without always needing more capital. That’s the kind of financial thinking we value.Finance, in our world, is a growth lever — and this team is expected to squeeze every drop of leverage from every transaction.
About The Role
As the first Finance hires at Flent, you will be helping build the financial foundation of a company. This role requires someone who can handle ambiguity, move fast, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty with operational details while keeping an eye on strategic opportunities.Flent doesn’t merely manage homes, we are keepers of trust and transparency for real estate. Our working capital and cashflow game is intense. There are a lot of moving parts, money flowing in multiple directions, and decisions that need to happen fast. We need someone who thrives in this environment and sees opportunity where others see chaos. This isn't a "sit in the corner and crunch numbers" role. You'll be building our finance function from the ground up, working directly with leadership on strategy, and ensuring every rupee flowing through Flent is tracked, optimized, and working for us. End of the day, you would just not be managing money, you would be managing trust - of our landlords, our tenants and our investors. What you’ll broadly do:
The Strategic Stuff (40% of your time):
- Cashflow Management: Build transparency and guardrails into our cashflow systems tracking inflow and outflow transactions. Manage daily liquidity by monitoring cash flow patterns and preparing forecasts to keep our operational engine running smoothly.
- Working Capital Optimization: Use our existing cashflow as leverage to systematically reduce working capital requirements and optimise ROCE of current cash deployments.
- Financial Intelligence: Create dashboards and reports that give management real-time visibility into where cash is flowing and detail analyses on its returns and utilisation.
- Growth Planning and Analysis: Model scenarios for scaling operations while maintaining healthy cash positions. Compare actual vs. budget performance and distill findings into clear insights for management.
- Hawking Unit Economics: Build scenarios, models and strategies to achieve target unit economics of the business. Build guardrails to ensure revenue functions are meeting target models/economics.
The Operational Stuff (60% of your time):
- Own Core Processes: Establish, manage, and refine accounting processes for procurement, collections, and payments.
- Own Execution: Effectively manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely processing and follow-up to optimize cash conversion cycles.
- Expense Control: Every expense gets scrutinized while building systems that make cost management automatic, not painful.
- Compliance & Controls: Develop financial policies and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance. Set up the boring-but-critical stuff that keeps us audit-ready and allows transparent observability for all stakeholders.
- Budget Management: Allocate and refine budgets with founders and analyse daily utilisation. Ensure growth accountability of every rupee being spent.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Someone with a startup DNA with experience in early-stage environments preferred - you understand the unique rhythm and thrive building from early phases and are excited to see it scale.
- A problem solver with high ownership who treats company money like their own. Someone who fixes broken processes and systems, not works around them.
- 1-3 years of progressive, hands-on finance/accounting experience with mastery of fundamentals and ability to apply them in a dynamic setting.
