Job Description

Position Summary The Vendor Quality & Vendor Management Engineer is responsible for evaluating, developing, and managing vendors to ensure they meet company standards for quality, cost, delivery, and compliance. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, auditing vendors, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement in the supply chain. 



Key Responsibilities

 Vendor Quality Management

o Develop and implement vendor quality assurance processes, inspection standards, and acceptance criteria.

o Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and performance reviews.

o Investigate vendor-related quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). o Monitor vendor performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost, service) and provide regular reports.  


Vendor Development & Relationship Management

o Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors in line with project and organizational needs.

o Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure long-term collaboration and reliability.

o Negotiate quality requirements, technical specifications, and compliance standards with suppliers.

o Support vendors in adopting lean manufacturing, process improvements, and compliance practices.  


Cross-functional Collaboration

o Work closely with engineering, procurement, and production teams to align supplier capabilities with project requirements.

o Participate in new product development (NPD) by ensuring suppliers can meet design and quality expectations.

o Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to address delivery or service issues.  


Compliance & Documentation

o Ensure vendors comply with regulatory standards, certifications (ISO, CE, etc.), and customer requirements.

o Maintain vendor records, audit reports, performance evaluations, and corrective action documentation.

o Support risk management and supplier sustainability initiatives. 




Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of vendor quality systems, supplier audits, and CAPA.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability to handle complex vendor issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple vendors and projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems for vendor management (added advantage). 


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in vendor quality, supplier development, or supply chain management (manufacturing / engineering industry preferred).
  • Experience in conducting supplier audits and working with international vendors is desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949) preferred.  



Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Supplier quality performance (PPM, rejection rate, NCR closure).
  • On-time delivery rate from vendors.
  • Vendor audit scores and compliance level.
  • Cost savings and vendor development initiatives.
  • Supplier responsiveness and issue resolution time.
