QA Electronics Engineer


Key Responsibilities

Electronics Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance

  • Oversee quality assurance activities for Design, development of Satellite bus avionics including

    PCBAs, cable harnesses, avionics, power electronics and subsystem assemblies

  • Implement and enforce ECSS quality standards including 

    ECSS-Q-ST-20

    , 

    ECSS-Q-ST-30

    , 

    ECSS-Q-ST-40

    , 

    ECSS-Q-ST-60

    , and 

    ECSS-Q-ST-70

  • Review and approve 

    schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and qualification evidence

     for ECSS compliance. 
  • Support development and execution of 

    PA/QA plans

    , inspection criteria, acceptance procedures, and project-specific quality guidelines. 


Supplier Quality, Audits & EEE Component Assurance

  • Evaluate and audit suppliers for ECSS compliance across PCBA manufacturing, EEE component sourcing, environmental testing, and assembly processes. 
  • Review supplier process capability, qualification reports, Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), and manufacturing records. 
  • Conduct 

    should-cost, derating, and stress analyses

     for EEE components in accordance with ECSS-Q-ST-60. 
  • Ensure complete traceability of components, hardware, and materials through the full manufacturing lifecycle. 


Testing, Verification & Qualification Activities

  • Review and approve test plans and procedures for functional, environmental, EMC, and reliability testing as per ECSS requirements. 
  • Participate in and support 

    MRRs, TRRs, FRRs

    , and customer/agency technical reviews. 
  • Validate manufacturing workmanship according to 

    ECSS-Q-ST-70

     series standards (soldering, bonding, PCB processes). 


Non-Conformance Handling, RCA & Risk Mitigation

  • Lead and manage 

    Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)

    , root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). 
  • Conduct FMEA, risk assessments, and reliability-driven reviews to ensure robust quality controls. 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical and process-related issues during development, integration, and testing. 


Documentation, Traceability & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop, manage, and maintain high-quality documentation including QA plans, test reports, inspection records, qualification files, and compliance matrices. 
  • Interface with engineering, production, supply chain, and BD teams to ensure alignment between customer requirements and internal deliverables. 
  • Support proposal teams with 

    quality-related inputs

    , including ECSS compliance statements, quality plans, and supplier qualification summaries. 


Qualifications

  • 5+ years

     of experience in electronics QA for space or aerospace programs. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in 

    Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering

    , or related fields. 
  • Mandatory:

     Hands-on experience applying 

    ECSS standards

     on past space-flight hardware or ESA-aligned programs. 
  • Strong knowledge of space-grade EEE components, PCBA processes, environmental testing, and reliability engineering. 
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. 
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ESA, CNES, DLR, ASI, or commercial space mission customers. 
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), NASA workmanship standards, or DO-254 processes. 
  • Experience in supplier auditing, quality oversight, and process qualification. 
  • Understanding of PLM/ERP tools and configuration management workflows.
