What will you do?
- Understand overall platform architecture, business priorities, and success measures to design specific architectures in a product-oriented business
- Work across functional and technical domains and develop a broad understanding of our business
- Develop architectures that advance scalability, customer experience and organizational excellence. As a senior architect, you will be deeply involved in long term, future state architecture
- Generalize across business cases to deliver value that can be scaled across the broader customer portfolio
- Work with stakeholders, including business, product, and engineering team members to influence the application design and extend product platform architecture
- Collaborate with other architects in developing complex end-to-end solutions
- Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to establish and adopt architectural best practices, guidelines, and standards
- Evangelize our architectural approaches both internally and externally
- Mentor our engineering teams in their understanding of our technical approaches as well as understanding of our business context
- Ensure all Non-Functional Requirements (e.g., performance, availability and fail-over, scalability, security, etc.) are properly articulated, and work with all parties to guarantee that the software products that are delivered meet these objectives
- Document solution designs and capture Architectural Decision Records (ADR)
- Lead and evangelize solution designs from a technical perspective
- Participate in the full product design and development life cycle of new enhancements, working in an agile SDLC
- Manage the evolution of architectural roadmaps, showing how adoption of new tools, services and managed platforms can accelerate value delivery, with an eye on paying down technical debt with minimal disruption
- Run technical programs that will modernize and consolidate our cloud-native infrastructure stack, working closely with Architecture, DevOps & Engineering
- Work closely with security, compliance & regulatory teams on vendor selection. Provide architectural leadership in identification of technology partnerships
- Engage with Security and Compliance teams to deliver "secure by design" solutions and to reduce the cost of maintaining Velsera's regulatory compliance standards
- Bridge the product's current capabilities and future requirements through a deep understanding of the customer's environment
- Help to triage between product roadmap and custom development work
- Support sales teams in navigating scenarios to take or avoid, help convince the prospect through compelling, techno-commercial storytelling
- Propose solutions to best fit the customer's desired outcome while observing project and engineering constraints
- Create customer facing architectural artifacts. Validate this with peer groups to ensure artifacts are customer friendly, compelling and accurate. 'Can we' and 'how should we' should be incorporated in these recommended solutions
Requirements
What do you bring to the table?
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
- 10+ years as a software engineer and 5+ years in an architecture role
- Experience translating product strategy into technology strategy, and evangelizing this approach to management and technology peers
- Experience and proficiency with modern languages, frameworks, and technologies such as message queuing infrastructures, Azure, AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure and services
- Experienced with diverse types of software architectures including microservices and event-driven architecture
- Solid understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and proficient in leveraging container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
- Excellent collaboration, influencing, evangelization, negotiation, coaching, mentoring, and coalition building skills
- Ability to work with people at all levels, from the most junior person to VP levels, in all job functions (e.g., product, UX, developers, QA, DevOps)
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision, strong self-direction capabilities
- A great team player, with demonstrable experience delivering superior software products via agile methodologies
- Experience in supporting product teams to define and prioritize product roadmaps
- Experience defining multi-year roadmaps with multiple dependencies across systems and engineering teams
- High affinity for security related aspects of infrastructure
- Ability to navigate commercial and pre-sales environments with a high emphasis on customer interaction and convincing
- Ability to integrate with cross-functional teams worldwide
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
