Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced
Plant Head
to lead and manage the entire operations of our
transformer manufacturing plant
. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing
production, quality, maintenance, safety, supply chain, and people management
, ensuring smooth operations aligned with strategic business goals. The role requires strong leadership, deep technical understanding of transformer production, and a proven track record in manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Lead the end-to-end operations of the transformer manufacturing plant (including power, distribution, dry-type, or specialty transformers).
- Oversee daily production activities and ensure achievement of output, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Align plant performance with company KPIs including OEE, productivity, yield, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Drive operational efficiency, capacity planning, and process optimization.
- Prepare and manage budgets, resource planning, and capital expenditure proposals.
- Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality, Safety, And Compliance
- Ensure products meet international and national standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS).
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to HSE policies and zero-incident mindset.
Cross-functional Coordination
- Collaborate with design, R&D, procurement, marketing, and after-sales teams to align manufacturing with business goals.
- Lead coordination with third-party inspection agencies, clients, and suppliers for inspections and audits.
Team Management
- Build and mentor a high-performance team across departments: production, QC, maintenance, planning, and stores.
- Define roles, set performance goals, and conduct regular reviews and training.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Handle customer visits, audits, and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and contractors for materials and services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering (Master’s in Engineering/Management is a plus).
- 15+ years of experience in transformer manufacturing, with 5+ years in plant leadership or senior operational roles.
- Strong understanding of power and distribution transformer manufacturing processes, including:
- Core building
- Winding
- Assembly
- Tank fabrication
- Oil processing
- Testing (routine, type, special tests)
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing both low-voltage and high-voltage transformer production.
- Knowledge of lean tools, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), and quality systems.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage large teams and complex production setups.
Reporting To
- Director of Operations / Managing Director / CEO
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site role within a manufacturing plant.
- May require occasional travel for vendor development, customer inspections, or inter-plant coordination.
