Urban Company started as UrbanClap in November 2014, when its founders, Abhiraj, Raghav, and Varun, realized that the home services industry was predominantly unorganized, fragmented, and offline. Customers found it challenging to avail quality services conveniently, and service professionals were struggling to make ends meet, having to rely upon several middlemen, contractors, and local aggregators. The founders felt that the industry was ripe for disruption, and launched Urban Company, with three key principles in mind -

Role Overview

We are setting up our new Native manufacturing facility and are seeking a Plant Finance Manager to lead all finance, commercial, and compliance aspects of the plant. The role will be a key business partner to operations, supply chain, and leadership, ensuring strong governance, cost control, and financial efficiency from project commissioning to steady-state operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Finance & Commercials

- Manage plant-level budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.

- Drive Cost-to-Convert (C2C) metrics, and monitor labor, power, fuel, and material efficiencies.

- Oversee capex governance – business case evaluation, ROI analysis, approvals, and compliance.

- Manage working capital including vendor advances, GR/IR, and inventory.

2. Governance & Compliance

- Establish strong internal controls and compliance frameworks (GST, TDS, statutory requirements).

- Ensure process discipline, documentation, and audit readiness.

- Support internal and statutory audits and ensure timely closure of observations.

3. Business Partnering & Value Creation

- Partner with plant leadership to identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvement.

- Support sourcing/procurement in contract negotiations and vendor management.

- Use tools like Power BI, dashboards, and Oracle ERP systems to provide real-time visibility on plant performance.

Qualifications & Skills

- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5–7 years of experience in plant finance / manufacturing finance.

- Experience in greenfield factory setup or plant commercials preferred.

- Strong knowledge of Oracle ERP systems, financial controls, GST & compliance, and cost accounting.

- Good analytical skills and ability to provide actionable insights.

- Strong stakeholder management and ability to work in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
