About the Role

You’ll be the technical linchpin for the PeopleSoft HCM ecosystem (HR, Payroll, Benefits) within a multi-model, global delivery setting. You combine deep PeopleSoft coding/config/design experience with leadership of deliverables across integrations, upgrades, global roll-outs. You’ll mentor juniors, set technical vision, drive quality, and make sure HR systems run like clockwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design, development, testing, deployment of PeopleSoft HCM/HR modules (new builds, enhancements, integrations).
  • Translate business requirements (HR/Payroll/Benefits) into functional & technical specs (you’ll work with HR process owners, stakeholders).
  • Create and maintain system architecture diagrams, data flows, security models, integration mappings.
  • Develop customizations: PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, Component Interfaces, Data Mover scripts, Integration Broker/Web Services.
  • Manage upgrades/patches/PeopleTools versions – ensure smooth migration, minimal disruption.
  • Provide production support: troubleshoot issues, root-cause, implement fixes, performance tuning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Business Analysts, QA, Infrastructure, Global Teams, Vendors).
  • Mentor / coach junior developers; review code; enforce best practices.
  • Ensure SDLC adherence (Agile/Scrum or hybrid), documentation standards, version control, change control.
  • Monitor KPIs around system uptime, defect resolution, enhancement throughput, business satisfaction.
  • Drive continual improvement: process automation, proactive optimization, future-state architecture.
  • Optionally: lead a small team or oversee vendor partner deliverables across geographies.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering (or equivalent).
  • ~7-10+ years (or more) of hands-on PeopleSoft development (HCM modules preferred) in enterprise environment. (Some public-sector JDs cite 7+ years for “Senior” role)
  • Strong expertise in PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Designer/Engine, SQR, PS Query, Integration Broker, Component Interfaces, Data Mover.
  • In-depth understanding of PeopleSoft HR/Payroll/Benefits modules and business processes.
  • Strong SQL / PL/SQL / Oracle DB skills; experience with performance tuning.
  • Experience with system upgrades/patches and large scale integrations/migrations (25K+ users/enterprise tier is a plus)

  • Experience mentoring junior staff; strong team-lead or architect mindset.
  • Preferred: Experience with newer functionalities: Fluid UI, Activity Guides, WorkCenters, Approval Workflow Engine (AWE).
  • Preferred: Experience in global/multi-geography/outsourced delivery context.

Desired Mindset / Soft Skills

  • You don’t just code—you craft lasting systems.

  • You mentor others, raising team maturity.
  • You’re comfortable in ambiguity—global roll-out means change, exceptions, variations.
  • You stay current—PeopleSoft evolves, so you do too.
