About The Opportunity

A key role in the Maritime Shipping & Commercial Ship Operations sector supporting gas carrier operations of company owned vessels, including LPG carriers and product tankers. You will join a commercial operations team that manages voyage execution, commercial performance, and stakeholder coordination to maximise vessel utilisation, minimise costs, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role includes responsibilities around voyage estimation, cargo handling coordination, and claims management.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end voyage execution for assigned vessels: voyage planning, port calls, bunkering, and on-board documentation to meet commercial targets.
  • Negotiate and manage charter parties, voyage contracts, and commercial terms to optimise revenue and limit exposure to claims; handle notices of readiness (NOR) and voyage estimations.
  • Coordinate with port agents, terminals, and local authorities to secure berths, manage arrival/departure windows, and resolve port-related issues, including terminal requirements and cargo compatibility checks.
  • Monitor bunker procurement and consumption, identify fuel optimisation and hedging opportunities, and verify bunker delivery notes and invoices.
  • Perform freight, demurrage, and claims calculations; produce timely billing and support commercial audits, dispute resolution and claims management processes.
  • Implement voyage optimisation and estimation techniques to improve commercial performance and reduce unnecessary ballast or fuel consumption.
  • Ensure compliance with IMO/ISM/MARPOL requirements and company procedures; drive process improvements and maintain accurate voyage records.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Experience as Chief Officer or Master with a valid Certificate of Competency (COC).
  • Proven experience in gas carrier operations, including LPG carriers , product tankers.
  • Voyage planning and voyage estimation skills; familiarity with voyage optimisation tools and techniques.
  • Charter party negotiation experience (time/ voyage/COA) and strong understanding of charter party clauses.
  • Bunker management, bunker procurement and verification of bunker delivery notes.
  • Freight, demurrage and claims calculation experience; practical exposure to claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Port agency coordination and vessel scheduling experience

Preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (modelling, pivot tables, lookups) for voyage estimation and commercial analysis.
  • Experience with SAP (SD/Logistics modules) or other commercial/voyage management systems.
  • P&L management exposure and commercial reporting experience.
  • Familiarity with voyage management/voyage estimation software, bunker hedging concepts, and chartering market dynamics.

Additional Qualifications

  • Practical experience preparing billing, freight and demurrage statements, and supporting commercial audits.
  • Availability to work on-site across Indian ports with occasional extended hours during vessel operations.
