Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical Design Engineer, stationed at our Navi Mumbai location. Responsibilities include designing mechanical components, developing innovative product designs, creating and refining machine designs, and utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for drafting and modeling. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop efficient parking solutions and troubleshooting mechanical design issues within projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in optimizing the engineering processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.


Key Responsibilities

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of various components and sub-systems of our automated parking systems. Key responsibilities include:


Design and Development

• Conceptualize, design, and detail mechanical components, assemblies, and complete parking systems using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Solidedge AutoCAD Mechanical).

• Generate comprehensive engineering drawings in accordance with industry standards, including dimensions, tolerances (GD&T), and material specifications.

• Work closely with the sales and project management teams to translate customer requirements and project specifications into viable engineering designs.

• Conduct design reviews and actively participate in brainstorming sessions to optimize system performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.

Analysis and Testing

• Perform structural analysis (FEA) and calculations to ensure the integrity, safety, and reliability of designs under various load conditions.

• Select appropriate materials and components (motors, gears, sensors, hydraulics, etc.) based on performance requirements, cost, and availability.

• Develop and execute prototyping and testing plans to validate design concepts and performance specifications.

• Analyze test data and implement necessary design modifications for continuous improvement.

Documentation and Collaboration

• Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), technical specifications, and other essential engineering documentation.

• Collaborate with the manufacturing, procurement, and installation teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production and deployment.

• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies related to the design and implementation process.

• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., safety, mechanical).

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

• 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial machinery, material handling systems, automation, or similar complex mechanical systems.

• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., Solidedge, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360).

• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, structural mechanics, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly).

• Familiarity with reputed standard design software and practical experience in performing structural analysis.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.

Preferred

• Experience in the parking system, elevator/lift, or automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) industry.

• Knowledge of various drive systems, including motors, gearboxes, and power transmission components.

• Experience with PLC or control system integration in mechanical design.
