We are seeking a highly accomplished Managing Director, Cybersecurity Engineering to lead the Cyber Engineering function within our IAM Security practice. This role is designed for a cloud-native application engineering leader who brings deep hands-on experience in full-stack development, automation, and DevSecOps, and can build scalable, product-grade cybersecurity platforms.
The Managing Director will oversee security platform engineering, cloud-native security services, and end-to-end automation, with strong expertise in IAM products and architecture. While the role sits within the IAM cybersecurity domain, the primary expectation is strong application engineering leadership – an individual who can design, build, and automate security capabilities using modern cloud and software engineering practices. IAM domain knowledge is important, but secondary to engineering depth.
Key Responsibilities:
Cyber Engineering & Application Development Leadership
Lead the design and development of cloud-native security applications and platforms supporting IAM and access security use cases.
Own end-to-end full-stack application engineering, including frontend, backend, APIs, and microservices.
Ensure secure development patterns for cloud-native workloads and build cloud native web applications (Eg Onboarding accelerators, Cyber Control automation, etc.) using Spring boot, API, Java microservices, Angular/React JS in an agile environment embedded in CI/CD pipelines and application runtimes.
Drive engineering excellence by applying modern software design principles (API-first, microservices, event-driven architectures).
Establish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and reference architectures for cyber platforms.
Cloud-Native & DevSecOps Enablement
Architect and build applications optimized for AWS, Azure, and GCP using cloud-native services.
Embed security into CI/CD pipelines, enabling automated build, test, and deployment of cyber applications.
Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and Policy-as-Code to support scalable, secure environments.
Partner with platform and cloud teams to enable self-service security capabilities for engineering teams.
Automation & Productivity
Build and scale automation frameworks that reduce manual IAM operations and improve speed, reliability, and developer productivity.
Drive adoption of automation, workflow orchestration, and event-driven remediation.
Develop automated integrations across IAM platforms, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
Define and execute a global cybersecurity engineering strategy centered on cloud-native and automation-first security architectures.
Measure and improve engineering productivity using automation-driven KPIs.
IAM Context & Integration
Provide technical leadership for IAM-related engineering integrations, including identity lifecycle, authentication flows, and authorization services.
Enable secure identity integration using APIs, SDKs, and event-driven architectures.
Collaborate with IAM product, operations, and governance teams to translate IAM needs into scalable engineered solutions.
Guide IAM modernization through engineering-first approaches, not tool-centric implementations.
Leadership & Team Building
Build and lead a high-performing cyber engineering organization of full-stack developers, cloud engineers, and automation specialists.
Coach teams in modern software engineering and DevSecOps practices.
Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and engineering rigor driving high performance and engineering excellence.
Partner with IAM leadership, and product engineering to align priorities and roadmaps.
Manage cyber vendor ecosystem, influence product roadmaps and innovation.
Skills & Qualifications
Must Haves:
18+ years in software engineering and cloud application development, with 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
Strong hands-on background as a full-stack engineer: Frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or similar), Backend development (Java, Node.js, or similar), Strong proficiency in Python for automation and services
Deep expertise in cloud-native application development across AWS, Azure, or GCP (including Kubernetes / Containers, serverless security, API security, service mesh, workload identity federation, IaaC)
Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps tooling, and automation frameworks.
Experience designing and operating microservices-based platforms at enterprise scale.
AWS or Azure Cloud certification
Nice To Have:
Working knowledge of IAM concepts, frameworks, and platforms (SSO, MFA, identity lifecycle, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, Zero Trust).
Experience integrating applications with IAM platforms (Okta, Ping, ForgeRock, SailPoint, etc.).
Experience in driving cyber engineering programs in highly scaled environments delivering enterprise-scale identity security initiatives.
Certifications on CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and/or CISA
Leadership Attributes:
Engineering-first mindset with strong bias toward building vs buying
Able to acquire, motivate, and attain top talent through networking and relationships while building talent pipelines.
Strong leadership and mentoring capability, elevating engineering quality and team performance.
Comfortable operating at executive altitude while staying technically credible.
Ability to translate complex security problems into scalable software solutions.
Demonstrate strategic and tactical thinking, along with decision-making skills and business acumen.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
