About this role:
Gartner is searching for a Team Manager to join our Branded Research Centre of Excellence that works with experts to support and contribute to Gartner’s vendor evaluation. This role will manage and lead a team of individual contributors that manage production of Gartner’s Branded Research like Magic Quadrants and Critical Capabilities. The team also introduces process innovation and best practices for the research it supports and helps develop new research methods to drive scale and efficiency to accelerate growth.
What you’ll do:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of individual contributors (Project Specialists, Project Managers, and Senior Project Managers), ensuring effective end-to-end management of multiple concurrent projects.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, delivery, and post-project review to ensure high-quality outcomes aligned with business objectives.
- Coach and train team members on project management fundamentals, including calendar management, stakeholder coordination, vendor communication, and best practices in research production.
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor new staff, fostering a culture of engagement, learning, and professional growth.
- Define and communicate clear team goals and objectives in alignment with the global Research & Advisory team; conduct regular performance reviews and feedback sessions.
- Develop and maintain a robust capacity model to optimize team workload, resource allocation, and project assignments.
- Balance team workload and manage requests for operational support on special projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Proactively identify and resolve project roadblocks, providing hands-on support and guidance as needed.
- Drive process and technology improvements to support market definition reviews, market-to-product alignment, and the creation of Voice of Customer reports.
- Define, track, and report on key performance metrics critical to the team’s success.
- Plan and ensure the successful delivery of special projects as required, managing timelines and stakeholder expectations.
- Facilitate effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including managing challenging conversations and aligning on project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards in all aspects of project and team management.
Impact of Role:
- Achievement of key metrics for Branded Research deliverables (e.g., Magic Quadrants).
- Strong partnerships and collaboration across the BRCOE and BTI organizations.
- Optimal use of resources and effective delegation across all team levels.
- Ongoing team development, engagement, and progression through targeted learning and development initiatives.
- Implementation of initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and new-hire ramp-up.
- Timely delivery of high-quality written content in line with agenda planning schedules.
Who you are:
- MBA from leading B-schools (master’s in economics or business studies can also be considered)
- BE/B.Tech or Graduation from Grade A college, in any specialization
- 8-10 years of experience in a professional environment.
- Minimum 2 yrs of experience of Direct Reporting, coaching and mentoring teammates
- Passionate about engaging and supporting development of team members
- Real-life experience in driving to consensus, moving forward, and getting things done amongst large, global, and diverse groups of constituents.
- Superior understanding of project management techniques
- Hand-on experience of Project Management tools like Workfront, JIRA etc is preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to organize information logically.
- Proven competence for meeting deadlines, multi-tasking and managing work under ambiguity/uncertainty (e.g., changing factors, limited information)
- Ability to collaborate with multiple senior stakeholders, spread across geographies to drive projects.
- Experience in an extremely fast paced work environment preferably in research or consulting
- Proven ability to solve problems and bring timely resolution to on-going issues.
- Ability to independently work on a variety of tasks, juggle multiple projects and problem-solve hindrances and execute to completion.
