Job Description

Job Summary The Backend Lead will oversee the technical aspects of developing and scaling our HRMS platform. You will be responsible for designing the architecture, choosing the right tech stack, implementing scalable infrastructure, and ensuring that the system can handle future growth. This role requires both leadership and deep technical expertise. You’ll also manage a team of engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and HR specialists. Key Responsibilities Lead the technical development of the HRMS platform, ensuring high scalability, availability, and performance. Design and implement the software architecture and infrastructure, keeping future growth in mind. Take ownership of the overall technical direction, including the choice of technologies, frameworks, and tools. Provide hands-on coding, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers. Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define system requirements, timelines, and delivery expectations. Ensure security and compliance of the platform, adhering to industry best practices. Conduct code reviews, identify and address technical debt, and ensure best practices in development. Create a culture of continuous improvement through regular learning and feedback loops. Lead the effort to build a robust CI/CD pipeline, automated testing, and release management process. Maintain and improve system reliability, implementing monitoring and alerting systems. Stay up to date with new technologies and trends, bringing innovative solutions to the team . Required Skills and Experience Proven Leadership: 8+ years of experience as a Backend Lead or Senior Engineer in building and scaling software platforms. Technical Expertise: Strong experience with backend technologies, particularly .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET 6/7). Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and managing infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) Strong understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), including performance tuning and schema design. Experience in MVC, microservices architecture and designing RESTful APIs. Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices. Experience with authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth2, OpenID, JWT, etc.) Strong understanding of security practices and ensuring data privacy. Ability to scale systems effectively, dealing with load balancing, high availability, and fault tolerance. Project Management: Ability to manage technical tasks and timelines, and work in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban). Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Desired Qualifications Experience in HRMS, SAS or ERP systems: Familiarity with HR processes, payroll, time tracking, and performance management features is a huge plus. Machine Learning/AI: Familiarity with implementing machine learning algorithms for predictive analytics or talent management features. Previous startup experience: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key Expectations: Ownership and Accountability: You will be the go-to person for all technical decisions regarding the platform. Your ability to guide the team and make crucial architectural decisions will directly influence the success of the product. Scalability & Performance: The system must be able to scale as the company grows. This means designing for horizontal scalability, ensuring high availability, and minimizing downtime. Mentorship & Growth: You will mentor junior and mid-level engineers, help them grow technically, and foster a culture of continuous learning. Collaboration: You must be able to work closely with non-technical teams, including product managers, designers, and HR personnel to align on technical requirements and deliver features that meet business needs. Timely Delivery: Ensure that technical milestones are met within deadlines and provide regular progress updates to the leadership team. Security & Compliance: Protecting the platform from security breaches and ensuring it complies with all relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOC2) will be your responsibility. Innovation: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and introduce innovative solutions to enhance the platform’s capabilities. Skill & Expectation Document 1. Technical Skills Required: Backend Tech Stack: .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET 6/7), RESTful API development, and integration. Frontend Tech Stack: React.js, Vue.js, Angular (or similar modern JavaScript frameworks). Database Management: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB (or equivalent databases). Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure (proficiency in deploying scalable apps on these platforms). Infrastructure Management: Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker, Kubernetes. Version Control: Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket. CI/CD Pipelines: Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar tools. Security Practices: Experience with security protocols, data encryption, and secure authentication methods. Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, etc. 2. Expectations from the Role: Hands-On Leadership: You must be technically hands-on, coding alongside the team, and mentoring others. Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose complex problems and come up with robust, scalable solutions. Adaptability: The platform needs to evolve quickly, so the tech lead must handle changing requirements efficiently. Collaboration: The ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions.
