Kalaripayattu martial arts - Agasthyam is a living tradition of Kalaripayattu and Siddha wisdom – India’s ancient martial arts and healing systems. Guided by the renowned Warrior Monk, Gurukkal Dr. S. Mahesh, a fifth-generation Kalaripayattu master. EBG Group is venturing into setting up Kalaripayattu martial arts training Gyms across India.

Job Role Purpose

The Gym Operations Head will build and scale the Kalaripayattu Fitness Gyms across India, working closely with Agasthyam Kalaripayattu’s master trainers. This leader will manage recruitment and training of gym trainers, membership enrolments, operations excellence, and P&L ownership to ensure profitable and sustainable growth of all centers.


Key Responsibilities

A. Trainer Recruitment, Certification & Performance

  • Build the national trainer pipeline for all Kalaripayattu Fitness Centers.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard gym trainers with the right fitness and martial arts aptitude.
  • Coordinate with Agasthyam master trainers for the Kalaripayattu for Train the Trainer training program and Certification.
  • Drive continuous upskilling of trainers: technique, safety, discipline, customer experience.
  • Set trainer KPIs: attendance, class quality, member retention, session delivery accuracy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to training curriculum and Agasthyam’s authentic methodology.


B. Member Acquisition & Revenue Growth

  • Drive enrollment of Fitness Enthusiasts into the Kalaripayattu program.
  • Build partnerships with residential communities, corporates, and fitness groups.
  • Create promotional campaigns with the marketing team using brand ambassador Milind Soman.
  • Monitor member funnel: inquiries → trials → conversions → renewals.
  • Ensure high member satisfaction, retention, and referral generation.


C. Center Operations Management

  • Establish SOPs for gym operations, safety, daily routines, equipment handling, and service quality.
  • Ensure centers are fully staffed, compliant, and operationally efficient.
  • Implement a class scheduling system and manage capacity planning.
  • Maintain hygiene, ambience, and brand experience consistent across all centers.
  • Manage inventory, equipment procurement, AMC, and vendor operations.


D. P&L Ownership & Business Performance

  • Take complete P&L responsibility for all Kalaripayattu Fitness centers.
  • Develop revenue plans, cost control frameworks, and profitability benchmarks.
  • Monitor daily/weekly/monthly dashboards: revenue, utilization, expenses, trainer productivity.
  • Optimize operational costs without compromising service quality.
  • Ensure each center achieves break-even and scales profitably.


E. Expansion & New Center Launches

  • Work with management to identify new locations across India.
  • Lead the launch process: staff hiring, licensing, interiors, equipment, training, and go-live.
  • Standardize center setup playbooks to enable rapid expansion.


F. Coordination With Agasthyam Kalaripayattu Gurukkal

  • Liaison with Agasthyam HQ and Gurukkal’s team for training, certification, audits, and content.
  • Maintain authenticity and integrity of traditional Kalaripayattu in the fitness curriculum.
  • Implement master-led workshops and nationwide events.


Required Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in

    Fitness Industry Operations

    or

    Martial Arts/Fitness Academy Management

    .
  • Proven track record in handling multi-center operations, revenue growth, and P&L.
  • Experience in building and managing trainer teams.

Skills

  • Strong leadership, people management & coaching abilities.
  • Deep knowledge of fitness training methodologies; martial arts background is preferred.
  • Strong operations management and SOP-driven working style.
  • Strong sales orientation and member engagement skills.
  • Ability to scale operations across multiple cities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with external partners.

 

Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following sectors will be preferred:

  • Multi-center fitness chains such as Cult.fit, Gold’s Gym, Anytime Fitness, Talwalkars, Snap Fitness, Fitness First, Chisel, MultiFit, Fit7, etc.
  • Martial arts or combat sports academies such as Kalari Academy, MMA India gyms, Crosstrain Fight Club, BJJ India, Karate/Taekwondo federations, etc.


Qualifications

·      Any Graduate/Postgraduate with strong experience in fitness, sports sciences, martial arts, or operations.

·      Certifications in fitness training or martial arts preferred.


Reporting To

  • You will report to the CEO/COO of EBG Group

Working Days

  • Monday to Saturday Working (6 days a week)

Joining Time

  • Within 30 to 45 days from the date of Offer given

Reporting Office

  • You will be based at our new EBG Group Central Office, Madhapur/Hitec City Area, Hyderabad

Salary Package

  • Your Approximate Salary package will be as per the industry standards
